LIGHTHOUSE

Arkushule

Now I travel to the Lighthouse area. I continue in a more or less westerly direction, fighting a few Wolves along the way.

At some point I run into a fortune teller named Arkushule. I take her up on her offer, only she gets spooked when she sees something about Avastrian's past. If you persist enough times in trying to get her to reveal what she saw, she'll attack (she's a Mage). As a matter of roleplaying I decided to pull myself just short.

The video concludes with me going west a little more and killing another pack of Wolves.

Safana

Now I go a little northeast and reveal the location of Safana, a joinable Thief for anyone who's interested. She wants to loot a nearby Pirate Cave, but I like my party the way it is. The video concludes with me killing another pack of Worgs.

Pallonia

Now I go a little west, and speak with a seer Pallonia, who doesn't offer anything substantial.

The video concludes with me killing three Hobgoblins. Note that I make a point of shooting them down at a distance with missile fire. There's a reason for this that will become evident in the next video.

Sil

Now I go west a little and run into a trio of Sirines. Sirines will try to cast Improved Invisibility, cast Dire Charm on party members, and then shoot Arrows of Biting. In vanilla BG1 you could tease the edge of the fog of war so as to bring them down one by one with missile fire and interrupt their spells. It doesn't work in SCS. Once you bring one into view, the others will follow and join in.

I don't recommend trying out SCS Sirines until you've advanced a few levels and have acquired a few spells that can effect groups of enemies at once.

My method consisted of always starting out with Silence 10' Radius from Yeslick and Fireball from Imoen. There's a good chance that the Silence spell will prevent them from casting any spells, and that Fireball will interrupt their spells, although neither is a guarantee. Imoen adds another Fireball. After this I march in and kill the softened Sirines. They'll leave Pearls and Arrows of Biting behind.

In then continue west and run into a trio of Carrion Crawlers. I kill one with missile fire, and soften up a second. I then kill them off in close quarter combat once they close in.

I then go north and run into two more Sirines and a boss Sirine named Sil. Sil will come up close before she herself goes hostile. I use the same method described above for the two distant Sirines. Note, however, that Khalid has been Dire Charmed. Sil has instantly activated her Improved Invisibility up close. This presents Jaheira with an opportunity to aim Dispel Magic so that it removes the Dire Charm on Khalid and Sil's Improved Invisibility, but won't affect the distant Sirines. This kills both stones at once, and the party seizes the opportunity to kill Sil up close. After this the distant Sirines are next. Note that I didn't have this planned or scripted out. I reacted to the situation as it developed, and reacted accordingly. Sometimes you need to adjust your combat actions on an impromptu basis according to the situation.

Pirate Cave

Now I enter the Pirate Cave. There will be three Flesh Golems at various points around the cave. Flesh Golems can hit pretty hard, even against well-armored characters. Resting is also not an option here, since that's a 100% guarantee of another Flesh Golem appearing close up and attacking.

The key is to take down each one at a distance one at a time. Kivan switches over to his Longbow of Marksmanship and Arrows of Biting. Imoen switches over to her Crossbow of Speed and Bolts of Biting. Yeslick switches over to his Sling and Bullets +2. The trio will then creep ahead slowly, and as soon as a Flesh Golem appears, they fire away. Note that the poison from the Arrows and Bolts of Biting not only cause extra damage, but will also slow down the Golem and thus very likely drop it before it can even come within striking distance. Note also how, for the third Golem, the trio retreated a good distance in order to increase their firing space.

The treasure trove at the north side of the cave will have Darts of Wounding, some potions, some gold, as well as:

Ardrouine

Now I head towards the southwest corner of the area, battling a few monsters along the way.

A woman named Ardruoine wants me to rescue her son, who has been trapped in a nearby Lighthouse by Worgs. The Worgs are easy enough to kill, and I get 500xp, 100gp, and +1 to reputation for my efforts.

My next destination is the Red Canyons.
