Immunity Items

Intro

Many items exist solely for the purpose of providing creatures with abilities and immunities. Bioware has used these items to easily add various flags to creatures. These items are equipped by the creature that has them, but are never dropped as loot. This document attempts to list all items that provide immunity to spells, effects or weapons in SoA, both flag items and real "loot" items (the stuff that is actually dropped by your enemies). Do not be fooled by the names of some of the flag items; even IMOENHP1 is not used by Imoen alone.

Bioware claims to have added immunities to creatures directly (not using the flag items) during the final stages of BGII - SoA's development. While this probably accounts for only a very small number of creatures and some very obscure immunities, it is advised not to place too much trust in the accuracy of detecting items.

"Immortal" creatures: Creatures with one of the MINHP flag items cannot be killed through normal means. However, almost all of those creatures are vulnerable to Mind Flayer "brain drain". Use Shapechange (or Limited Wish) if you plan to kill immortals. Warning: this may ruin some quests or plots; be sure you know what you are doing.

Spell Immunity

This table shows items that provide immunity to spells of the specified level or lower.

Immunity to level 5 spells prevents Breach from dispelling combat protections.

Weapon Immunity

The following items provide immunity to weapons of the specified enchantment strength (the "+"-s) or lower. Weapon enchantment 0 means normal (unenchanted) weapons.

    Loot Items

    This table lists all "real" items (stuff that is actually dropped as loot) that provide immunity to spells or spell-like effects. Since most of these loot items items are unique, it is extremely unlikely that an enemy will ever have one equipped. They are included for the sake of completion.

    All "named" items have been placed in this table, bluntly assuming they are available as loot somewhere in the game. If you spot an item that is definitely not available in the game, let me know and I will move it into the Flag Items table.
