THE DJINNI IN TRADEMEET

There are several ways of getting this quest. You can either speak to the Djinni in the blue tent at 4 in Trademeet or to Guildmistress Busya at 3 in the Mayor's house. When you have completed the Animal Attacks in Trademeet quest in the good fashion (not poisoning the Druid Grove!), High Merchant Logan Colprith asks you to speak to the Guildmistress.

In the following, I assume you speak to the Guildmistress and do the quest from there. If you go directly to the Djinni, just skip the first step.

Guildmistress Busya tells you that a group of Djinni have monopolized all trade in Trademeet, threatening the city with ruin. She asks you to help solve the problem.

  1. Leave the Mayor's house. On the Trademeet map, go to 4 and enter the Djinnis' tent (the blue one).

  2. Inside the tent, speak to Khan Zahraa and ask why they have monopolized the trade. You will learn that they are looking for a Rakshasa called Ihtafeer. Since they can't find her themselves, they have decided to force the mortals to do it for them. Agree to hunt down Ihtafeer for them.

You could also take the opportunity to browse through their Shop inventory. The shop won't be here any longer once you have completed the quest.

  3. Assuming you don't already know where to find Ihtafeer, go to the northeastern corner of the Trademeet area, at 24. Here you will find a Shadow Thief named Itona. She will tell you that there is an old woman called Adratha in a Druid Grove nearby. Recently, though, many people who have gone to see her have vanished, and she has two grandsons (so she claims) living with her, even though she is known not to have children. Hmmm...

  4. Go to the Druid Grove. I am assuming here that you already did the Animal Attacks in Trademeet quest; otherwise please see that quest for details on what you will have to fight on the way to Adratha's cottage.

  5. Adratha's cottage is at 12 on the Druid Grove map. Go there. Before entering, make the necessary preparations for battle against three powerful magic-users.

  6. Enter and speak to "Adratha". She senses the smell of the Djinni on you and turns into her true form as a Rakshasa. Her two "grandsons" teleport in. Kill all three of them.

  7. Loot the bodies. Ihtafeer/Adratha drops a Periapt of Proof against Poison, a Long Sword, and Ihtafeer's Head. One of the other Rakshasa drops a Cleric's Staff +3.

Also loot the chest at (x=620; y=200) for 40 Arrows of Fire, 40 Acid Arrows, 40 Bolts of Biting, and 40 Bolts of Lightning, plus a bit of gold.

  8. Go back to Trademeet. Enter the Djinni's tent and speak to Khan Zahraa.

  9. The party gets 10,000 XP and the scimitar Rachad's Talon +2. The Djinni leave for Calimshan, meaning that their shop will no longer be available.

However, all other shops in Trademeet are now open and fully stocked.

  10. Go back to the Mayor's house and speak to Guildmistress Busya. She rewards you with a Rogue Stone, a Diamond, a Jade Ring, a Pearl Necklace, and the Shield of Harmony +2, plus 7,500 GP.

  11. She also asks you to speak to the High Merchant, so do this. If you already solved the Animal Attacks in Trademeet quest (not by poisoning the grove!), he then holds a little ceremony in which you and your party are named Heroes of Trademeet. The party's reputation is increased by 1, each party member receives 25,250 XP, and the party gains 10,750 GP.

Also, two of the good citizens come to see you and offer you yet another quest. Please see the Feuding Families in Trademeet quest.

  12. If you wish to give your own vanity a boost, go outside to the Trademeet area and visit the fountain in the middle of the city at 19. Statues of you and your party members – Trademeet's heroes – now adorn the fountain!

Fun: The statues will look like your party at the time of the ceremony. So if for example you have Cernd in the party and he is shapeshifted into a Werewolf at the ceremony, one of the statues will be a Werewolf. Unfortunately this doesn't work with the protagonist's Slayer transformation if you do the Trademeet quests in Chapter 6.
