THE LIMITED WISH QUEST: DENNIS' MOTHER'S GONG

To get this quest, you must have one of your Mages cast the spell Limited Wish (7th level Mage spell; you can use a Limited Wish scroll from a quick item slot if you don't want to spend a slot in your spell book on this). Ask the Djinni that appears for a one-time wish, then ask for an adventure like none you've ever had before. The Djinni gives you a note with a message from a certain Captain Dennis to a man called Vittorio. You can see that Dennis writes from Delosar's Inn...

  1. Go to the Bridge District. At 15, near Delosar's Inn, a man named Vittorio will approach you. He asks you to help him collecting his debt from a certain Dennis, who hasn't paid him for his gong lessons. Promise to help.

  2. Vittorio goes into Delosar's Inn. Follow him.

  3. Inside, witness the exchange between Vittorio and Captain Dennis. Apparently Vittorio didn't tell you the whole story – like the part about stealing Captain Dennis' mother's gong and selling it for ale. Agree to find the gong for Captain Dennis.

Vittorio tells you he sold the gong to a man named Roger who can be found in the Sewers under the Temple District.

  4. Go to the Temple District. Find one of the three entrances to the Sewers at 11 on the map.

  5. Enter the Sewers. Roger is standing at 11 in the southern end of the area.

  6. If you haven't met Roger before, he wants you to do him a favor before he will help you: A Sea Troll is causing him trouble and he wants you to kill it for him. The Sea Troll can be found at 13. Kill it and return to Roger for 9,500 XP.

  7. Roger tells you that he sold the gong to a Troll Shaman called Grae who lives in a troll mound near Trademeet. He then adds the Druid Grove on your map.

  8. Go back up to the Bridge District, then go to the City Gate District. Leave through the main gate at 2. On the world map, scroll to the right and click the Druid Grove.

  9. If you haven't been here before, you will have to fight your way through various creatures. Please see the area map for details. Grae will be at 5.

TIP: Before you meet Grae, make sure none of your party members are wielding weapons that can instantly kill Trolls, like Crom Faeyr. You will want to beat some information out of her and she can't tell you if she is dead!

  10. Grae won't give you the gong, or even tell you where it is. So attack her and beat her until she gives you the information.

  11. Grae tells you she sold the gong to Drush, an Ogre Magi, who lives in a tower to the northeast.

Having received the information, it's a roleplaying decision whether you let Grae run, or whether you break your promise and kill her.

  12. Continue to the Ogre Tower at 11. Enter.

  13. Drush has the gong but wants a Wand of Frost in return. If you don't happen to have one with you, and you haven't yet revealed Adratha's true nature, Adratha has one for sale in her hut next door at 12. Otherwise see Wand of Frost Locations for where to find one.

  14. You get the gong which is in a deplorable state – as Drush puts it, old Bessie (his cow) has a problem... Fortunately the game designers haven't found a way to make smells carry over into real life. ;-)

Anyway, the party receives Dennis' Mother's Gong and 12,250 XP.

  15. Return to the Bridge District and enter Delosar's Inn. Speak to Captain Dennis. Each party member receives 16,500 XP and the party also receives 1,500 GP and the Boomerang Dagger +2.
