THE TEMPLE OF LOLTH

This is the temple of the Spider Goddess Lolth. You will be coming here to serve Matron Mother Ardulace. This is also where Adalon's eggs are kept but you are well adviced not to steal them before Phaere asks you to!

Finally, of course, you will come here to witness the Egg Ceremony where Matron Mother Ardulace summons a demon to aid the Drow in their war against the Surface Elves. Depending on how you played your cards in the Egg Switching quest, you can see Ardulace and/or Phaere getting killed for offering the demon false eggs. ;-)

  1. Here is the entrance from Ust Natha.

  2. Here is where you will meet Matron Mother Ardulace and Phaere when you are summoned here after killing Solaufein (or pretending to).

    Matron Mother Ardulace gives you the quest to fetch the blood of a neighboring race.

  3. Here is where Matron Mother Ardulace goes to prepare the summoning ritual. You can seek her out here if you want to reveal Phaere's plot to her in connection with the Eggs quest.

  4. Here is the room where the summoning ritual takes place.

    If you double-cross Matron Mother Ardulace, she drops a Ring of Spell Turning, the Gorgon Plate +4, 3 Rogue Stones, 5 Moonbar Gems, 6 Black Opals, and 3,500 GP.

    If you also double-cross Phaere, she drops Drow Elven Chain +3, Solaufein's Fake Dragon Eggs, a Drow Piwawfi Cloak (Solaufein's), and a Helmet (the one you gave her from the Swirfneblin Patrol Leader).

    If you ask the demon for wealth, power, or the way out of the Underdark, it attacks you. If you ask for a Magical Item, it gives you the Halberd Blackmist +4. However, you have to give it Adalon's Eggs in return, so the recommended path is to keep your silence and allow the Demon to leave.

  5. Here are some of the Matron's Guards. You'll want them to be out of sight when you open the door to the treasury room at 6.

  6. Here is the entrance to the treasury room where Adalon's eggs are being kept. You'll need the Despana Treasury Key (given to you by Phaere) in order to open the door.

    When you open the door, the two Egg Guards attack you. Make sure to kill them out of sight of the Matron's Guards, or there will be trouble. Each of the Guards drop Drow Full Plate +5 and a Drow Halberd +3.

    I suggest that you make a quick save just before opening the door. If the guards back at 5 turn hostile, you can then reload and try again.

  7. Inside the room are three Stone Golems and two Clay Golems. Adalon's Eggs are in the container at (x=2090, y=340). Nick them and replace them with Phaere's Eggs to double-cross Matron Mother Ardulace.

    When you take the eggs, the Golems come to life. So prepare beforehand, and act fast!
