REDCLIFFE

Battle at Redcliffe Village

I start the war against the Darkspawn by travelling to Redcliffe Village. There will be a lot of Darkspawn scattered throughout the village, but most of them are grunt-level. There is thus no real imperative to use crowd-control or offensive spell combos or anything like that, as most of them will fall under a single swipe. Leliana will weaken the odd Ogre that shows up by hitting it from afar with her bow.

Battle in the Castle Courtyard

Now I need to take the battle to the courtyard of Castle Redcliffe. It is more of the same. They're mostly grunts that go down after a single shot. There is the odd Emissary that I have to take special measures for (e.g. Mana Clash, putting Alistair on him). An Ogre Alpha will show up towards the end, but Wynne holds him up with a Glyph of Paralysis thus giving the party a good head start.

The Horde is heading for Denerim

I then get brought inside the castle, where Riordan and Arl Eamon inform me that the Archdemon and the Darkspawn Horde are heading for Denerim.

Bodahn and Sandal in Castle Redcliffe

I go back a bit, and then to the left. Waiting there will be Bodahn and Sandal. I buy some Health Poultices and Lyrium Potions from Bodahn. His more notable wares now include:

I then have Sandal put the Frost Rune into Sten's Starfang, then put what was Sten's Master Lightning Rune into Oghren's Chasind Great Maul, and then put the Paralyze Rune into Zevran's Imperial Edge.

Riordan's Revelation

Here is where Riordan reveals why only a Grey Warden can slay the Archdemon and end the Blight.

Dark Ritual

Here is a crucial roleplaying juncture, whether or not to take up Morrigan on her offer. I show both, but I do this one first since it appears that Dragon Age: Inquisitions will make the Dark Ritual canon.

Morrigan's Offer

Here's the alternative, where I turn her down, leading to the Ultimate Sacrifice ending.

Now it's time to take the war to the Darkspawn in Denerim.
