HALL OF THE PAST

Crypt 3

Crypt 4

Stone, Coif and Cloak

The Hall of the Past has a lot of teleporters, and a lot of darkened areas, so it is very easy to get lost in here and lose track of where you are. I show in my videos my preferred routes. And of course, higher tier monsters are here, but also tend to be fewer in number.

'S' marks the initial point of entry. I go to 1^, which teleports me to 1_. I then go one square west, and once the random fight is over, I press the button on the south hall.

The chest at 'A' has a Stone of New Life, a Coif of Divinemail (+8 armor class for the head, +10% life and death resistance), and a Displacer Cloak (+4 armor class, can cast Blink with limited charges). At this point I don't really need any of those items.

Key of Waters

The party now goes from 'A' to the teleporter at 2^. I then go from 2_ to the teleporter at 7^.

I am now in a dark area. I cast Direction to make sure which direction I'm facing. I press a button on the south way to open the way. At 'B' is a chest that has the Key of Waters.

I then take the teleporter at 10^. I then go from 10_ to the teleporter at 21^. I then go from 21_ to the teleporter at 30^. I then go from 30_ to the teleporter at 27^. I've fought enough monsters along the way now that Errol advances to his 26th level. He takes Whipping Rocks, although at this point I'm far enough along that I'm running out of meaningful choices.

I then go from 27_ to the teleporter at 15^. I then go from 15_ to the teleporter at 16^. I then go from 16_ to the teleporter at 17^. I run into a Rexx on the way to 17^, a dinosaur with a LOT of Hit Points. I go the distance and wear it down. Chun-Li and Rothgar both take Identify when they advance to their 26th levels. And both are building up their starting books for when they import to Wizardry 8.

I then go from 17_ to the gate at 'C', which requires the Key of Waters to open. At 'D' is a fountain that replenishes mana.

Staff of Doom and Black Gown of Death

I then go from the fountain at 'D' to the teleporter at 18^. I then go from 18_ to the teleporter at 19^.

I then go from 19_ north past the location marked 'F'. At 'F', there will always be a fight against random monsters whenever you pass over it. Terra takes Noxious Fumes on her 26th level-up, in order to build up her Alchemy spellbook for when she starts Wizardry 8.

I then take the teleporter at 34^. I then go from 34_ to the large room that has a series of teleporters in it. Ryu advances to his 26th level after I defeat a Fiero. He takes Confusion, although he's now running out of meaningful choices by this point.

I choose the teleporter at 47^. 3 squares south and 1 square east of 47_ is a chest that has the following:

Staff of Doom (8-20 damage, 25% chance of paralysis, 10% chance of stoning, 15% chance of critical hit, can cast Death Cloud with limited charges).

Black Gown of Death (U) (+12 armor class, +90% magic resistance)

Black Gown of Death (L) (+12 armor class, +90% magic resistance)

Rothgar already has his Staff of Doom. He could safely wear the Amulet of Healing and Black Gown of Death together, as the healing from the Amulet and the Hit Point loss from the Gown would completely cancel each other out. But that would mean having to use healing spells on him in between fights. He already has a suit of Plate Mail +3. So I prefer that his Amulet of Healing outpace the Hit Point loss from his Staff of Death, so that he can still passively regenerate while resting. As such, I ended up dropping everything from the chest. Good to know about this if you're interested though.

Key of the Gate

I next take the teleporter at 46^, which brings me to 46_.

Note again the large room with several teleporters. Note also the teleporter at 35^ in the middle. To all four sides of 35^ are spinners that will either send you forward one square, or one square to either side. In other words, the spinner that is one square east of 35^ may send me to the teleporters at 40^ and 44^ instead of the one I want at 35^. So I save my game, and reload until I am able to take the teleporter at 35^.

Now I go from 35_ to the teleporter at 38^. This brings me to 38_, and I then simply move one square over to the chest at 'E'. The chest itself has a Lyre of Cakes and the Key of the Gate. The Lyure of Cakes can be used to cast Cure Lesser Conditions on multiple party members.

Star Map

I then go one square south to take the teleporter at 43^. This sends me to the 43^ on Level 5. I then go west to 'F', and then south. I then take the teleporter at 25^. From 25_ I go 2 square east and 1 square north. I then use the Key of Gates to open the gate.

I then take the teleporter at 50^ to end up at 50_. The chest at 'G' has the Star map, which provides clues as to how to pass the tests in the City of Sky.

Now I temporarily leave the Hall of the Past by taking the teleporter at 11^, then going from 11_ to the teleporter at 9^, and then up the stairs at 'S'.

Locket of the Tomb

Now that I have the Star Map, I make my way back through the Hall of Gorrors and the Hall of the Dead to return to the surface.

Map C7

#3 on the C7 map looks like a stone square that can't be entered. Truth is, you can pass through an illusionary wall on the west side of #3. Once inside, I use the Jewel of the Sun, and then step back out.

I then head over to #4, which is much like #3 except that it must be entered from the south side. I then get teleported. I simply test the walls till I'm able to pass through one of them, and then I see a statue of Phoonzang. I then search the Statue of Phoonzang, and get the Locket of the Tomb, which is a quest item.

Now I sail south, exploring the south coast and fighting monsters along the way. I then sail to the southwest and travel through the Dragon Cave to return to the City of Sky.

City of Sky

Hall of the Crusaders

I make for #5 of the Sky City map. I go 4 square south, 1 square west, 1 square south, 2 squares east, 1 square north, 1 square east, 2 squares north, 1 square east, 1 square south, 2 squares east, 2 squares south, 1 square west, 1 square south, 1 square east and 1 square south to reach #2.

And from there I go to see Dame Ke-Li again at #4, and buy more Ankhs from her to raise my character stats some more. I also dump more of my equipment that I intend to import into Wizardry 8 at the same spot (1 square east of #5), like the Samurai armor that I found earlier.

At #6 is a statue of Phoonzang. I 'search' the statue, whereby it asks me a question. "Phoonzang" is the obvious answer.

The Star Map is meant to provide clues from the test given by the statue at #7. The correct order for the buttons is: Pyramid, Cross, Serpent, Dragon, Wand, Skull, Gate, and Star.

As soon as I make for #8, I get attacked by a robot that can damage multiple party members with its plasma (fire) attack. Suffice to say, I casted both Fire Shield and Magic Screen to minimize the damage although it only ended up making physical attacks. I then 'search' the statue at #8 to open the rest of the way.

Both Errol and Rothgar advance to their 27th levels. Errol takes Chilling Touch, while Rothgar takes Charm.

At #9 is a spaceship. Choose 'talk' and say 'Phoonzang' to open the door to the spaceship. Search it thoroughly to get the Globe Map, as well as the Ring of the Globe. Also, use the Locket of the Tomb here. This way, you'll be able to tell Vi Domina that you've discovered a way off the planet when next you meet her. Don't worry, you'll still have the Locket of the Tomb after this.

After all this, I make my way back to the Hall of the Past.

Crystal Runes

Now for the most efficient route to the last dungeon. I go to the teleporter at 1^. I then go from 1_ to the teleporter at 30^. I then go from 30_ to the teleporter at 28^. I then go from 28_ to the teleporter at 29^.

Note that 2 squares east of 29_ is a square marked 'H'. In the small rooms surrounding 29_ and 'H' are crystal runes that can be pressed. Have a look at the Crystal Map, and you'll see clues as to the correct order in which to press the crystals. The correct order is: Dragon, Tower, Moon, Cross, Skull, Star, Egg, and Sun. I then step on the pentagram at 'H'. This opens the way to the teleporter at 61^.

I then go from 61_ to the teleporter at 62^. I then go from 62_ to the stairs at 63, which leads to the Tomb of the Astral Dominae.
