WATER CAVES

There isn't really any purpose to this area other than as a transit point between Mount Gigas and the Bayjin Shallows. There are plenty of marine monsters here though.

Water Caves

Depth Dwellers and Inky Squids

I swim south and run into six Inky Squids and two Depth Dwellers. Depth Dwellers can cause disease or poisoning with their bite attacks, while their tentacle attacks can hit multiple party members. Inky Squids can also hit multiple party members with their tentacles. They can also emit an ink cloud that can blind multiple party members.

I also can't use Fire spells underwater, which would otherwise be the weakness of the marine monsters I encounter here. So it's a matter of toughing it out and bringing them down in physical combat, with Errol using his Dulcimer of Mending when needed. Rothgar also uses a Rest All spell at one point.

Psi Sharks

I soon run into four Psi Sharks. Psi Sharks can bite, but also make extensive use of spells from the Psionics spellbook.

The plan is a simple one. I start off with Vi Domina casting Soul Shield in the first round in order to more or less neutralize the Sharks' use of Psionics, and thus reduce the battle to one of pure physical combat. I then take out the Sharks one by one.

Manta Rays

I continue south and run into several Manta Rays. They fire energy bolts that can paralyze their targets. But I don't have much trouble cutting them down one by one.

I keep going south until I am near the entrance to the Bayjin Shallows.
