Erran (from Tolkien - "one who walks alone") is one of my old PnP alter egos - a halfling rogue-fighter who also saw service in IWD and BG2. 

Behind the mask, I am an electronics engineer working in the UK, a few miles south of London. I have been playing and DMing Pencil and Paper RPGs on and off for about 15 years. When CRPGs came along I got hooked on those too and clicked my way through all the "Gold box" series then on through Fallout to BG2. It was whilst looking to see if I had missed anything in Icewind Dale that Yahoo led me here and I have been a regular ever since. First asking, then answering other members of our gaming community.

I have always dreamt of a fusion of the best of PnP and CRPG: the flexibility of a live DM, the companionship and unpredictability of real people playing the other team members PLUS the speed of combat resolution and graphical environment that a modern computer can give. Hopefully, Neverwinter Nights will prove to be that fusion. Of all the groups looking to utilize the NWN tools, A Land Far Away (ALFA) looks to be the best bet. They are looking to recreate the whole of the Forgotten Realms and populate it with the very best Roleplayers.

I wanted to be a part of this project, so I volunteered to be HDM of Phlan on the Moonsea, the site of the original SSI's Pool of Radiance and the first CRPG I ever played.  I also initiated 'Role-play Corner' here at Sorcerer's Place, where you can get a feel for PnP play without having to be in the same location as the other players.

So, if you do join the NWN - ALFA world of Faerun, take care. That 'NPC' you are about to chop down might just be me!
