[IMG] i have a necromancer that is suddenly doing wild surges. does anyone have any idea why? he always does a wild color changes upon caster (meaning he is always rolling a 2 on his wild surge roll), and it only seems to happen whenever i try to caste haste. is this some kind of bug? i have tried re-loading and everything, and when i go to cast haste, i wild surge instead even though i am playing a necromancer and not a wild mage! it makes no sense to me, and i first noticed it after i got hit by a spell (don't know what) from one of the copper coronet guards when i was attempting to free the slaves. if anyone has any idea whats up, please let me know. thanks.

There is a wildmagic room in Watcher's Keep, but as you mentioned the Copper Coronet, that's a nogo. Did you by any chance edit your character with Shadowkeeper? Say given him a different class, or something that might affect your character in this way?

Oh, and where are my manners? Welcome to the boards! :rolling: :spin:

[IMG] thanks for the quick replies! i have tried sleeping 2 times in a row, but he still does a wild surge roll 2 when i wake up and cast haste.

i should mention that i have had this wild surge problem both in the sewers below the copper coronet and in the copper coronet itself. also, i have edited other chars in my party with shadowkeeper, but not my mage. i even used shadowkeeper to check to make sure that his school was still the same, and indeed, he still is a necromancer.

any idea what the mages in the coronet hit me with, if that is indeed what is causing this? any other ideas on things i could try? thanks for your help!

    ---------------update-----------------------

Apparently, according to a post on the ToB forums on the bioware website (4/12, "Wild mage bug"), if you have cheats enabled, there is a ctrl + key combination that makes all spellcasters cast wild surges. i accidentally pressed the wrong combination of keys a few times when i was trying to ctrl+j to another location, so maybe i turned it on. im going to try different ctrl + key combos and i might toggle the cheats enabled bit to see if that fixes it. if anyone has any additional insight, it would be much appreciated. thanks again for your help!

The key combination that sets a mage to a wild surge is Ctrl+H. And welcome on the boards

There is a cheat key that does change this. It is CTRL+H, I believe. This will increase the Surge Number by one each time. To get things back to normal, you'll have to keep increasing it until the Surge Number reaches zero again. That should fix it.

Since the J is next to the H on your keyboard it's not farfetched that the J was not the only key you hit.

    not always, Ragusa

I also found a trigger in the Copper Coronet and when I stood on it my character kept having wild surges of magic, dunno if that could have made a difference
