Anyone played this game? I just downloaded the demo and it's awesome. It's too bad these guys weren't hired to turn this into a D&D strategy game as the engine would work perfectly.

AoW 2 is nice, but AoW:SM (the standalone expansion) is even better IMO. Shadow Magic allows you to make a multi-element wizard, a thing which AoW 2 lacks. Also, SM has an extra "plane" (the Shadow Realm) and more creatures.

Both games I find are a nice release from what I consider serious gaming, you don't have to think a great deal but there's still enough there to make it fun. (IMO by serious I mean C&C, D&D, Civ, M&M)

I find AoW(:SM) to be more engaging than C&C. Sure, it may look more cartoony and even a bit silly, but I find it to be a more complex game than the C&C series. Just remember to patch it.

I was actually going to buy SM because that's the only one I can find.

And I don't think this game is any less complex than most other games out there, of course it's not the most complex. I'm not the biggest strategy fan, but it seems on par with most strategy games I've played.

Er, AoW requires less thinking than C&C? You, sir, have an odd brain. A very odd brain indeed.
