Everybody is always talking about romances

Everybody is always talking about romances. I know that you have to do some sort of quest to start a romance. I have Jaheira in my party so how do I start a romance with her?

P.S. what does IIRC mean?

From what I understand, you don't iniate romances. They have to talk to you first. Aerie was pretty easy to hit it off with, I don't know about Jaheira and Viconia yet.

    IIRC=if-I-remember-correctly

Don't worry about the romance part. They start talking, and as the game progresses, you'll get the idea.

But do try to be nice and friendly, otherwise you'll blow your romance before it has even begun.

Some of the walkthroughs available from this site have basic hints on the romances in the game (Jaheira, Aerie, Viconia and Anomen). You can also find loads of earlier posts on the subject by using the search function here (it seems we are all sad and want to romance a collection of pixels). Of the romances, (for men) I think Viconia is the easiest, followed by Aerie (although it can get more complex with Haer'dalis (whatever the pillock is called)) and the hardest by far is Jaheira. You can get more detailed background on the Jaheira Romance at this ealier post:
    http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/Forum2/HTML/001746.html

You could also visit the patch site that people have been talking about:
    http://members.home.net/mrkevvy/fixes.html

as I think this has a Patch to make the Jaheira romance a bit more sensible. Finally, visit the editors and hacks section here for another patch that will let you run all three romances (no matter who you choose in the dialogues). Hope this helps.

P.S. I've just noticed the earlier comment about romance restrictions on class. I have seen it said before that Halflings don't get romances - try telling that to my Halfling Cleric who had Jaherira and Aerie after him (maybe it was that ring of charisma).

Perhaps there is hope even for half-orcish barbarians with a charisma of 3?

I've just had a thought. You'll probably rememember my assorted moans, rants and grumbles about the lack of dwarven romance. Then I noticed a number of female members complaining about Anomen being a lousy romance. The connection? Facial hair!

Nah! Wear your beard proudly, Ironbeard! The absence of dwarven romance alternatives is just a result of shady politics and a hopeless lack of project management at BioWare! :D

[IMG] yes be proud my dwarven darling, I think more people should stick up for minorities, dwarves 'kick ass' halflings are fantastic thieves and female gamers DO exist, and are damn good at that! we can excel in a male dominated world, oh yeah
...blessings be upon your beard my friend, you and i shall go out for some ale and stuff the silly pixel romances for they never last...like the last sticky bun *sigh*
(although, wouldn't it be interesting if the ToB NPC were a new love interest? now there's a man worthy of attention...sure he is murderous evil scum, but he is cute murderous evil scum...) j/k!

Talking of miorities, I would have expected the new NPC to be half-orcish as that's the only playable race which hasn't been represented by an NPC.

Ahyes, but there are hidden complications with the Aerie romance depending on which NPCs you have in your group......
