With that special Blade technique they are supposed to have is it good?

Sounds like the Whirlwind Skill from Diablo 2 Barbarians ;)

i was wondering if anyone has used it yet?

Yes actually my protagonist (in one of my MANY, MANY games) is a blade. the offensive spin pretty much gives you haste in attack but not in movement. defensive stance has seemed to do me good when im down to like 15 hit points and cant get out of the fray.

Her-Deilas (whatever; the tiefling) is a blade, and the offensive spin seems to work well, add the spells, and i think my next game will be using the blade as my main character

Blades are pretty cool, though I think most classes and kits can have that said -- the Avenger, for instance, is proving really fun to play at the moment.

My first character that I played with was a Blade pulled over from BG1 (so 19 str/dex/cha), and he's pretty good. In melee, they're nowhere near as hard-hitting as the warrior/barbarian classes, but they can put up stoneskin, mirror image, etc. As well, he's dual wielding Celestial Fury and the DayStar, and he deals out a fair amount of damage in the middle of an offensive spin. I think he's doing 23 damage each hit with primary, 18 with secondary and hitting 3 times a round.

As a bonus, I find he's the perfect character to walk into the middle of a big group of enemies -- use defensive spin and then start unleashing sunbursts (or whatever -- level 5 spell that does 15d6 in 30' radius?). His bard song comes in handy now and again to remove fear (he's immune due to equipment).

They're a fun enough character, but I'm really enjoying the raw brutality of the Barbarian, the coolness of a dwarven wizardslayer dual wielding hammers, the variety of things you can do with an avenger and the snazziness of the assassin.

My favourite character has to be my priest of talos-dual'd-to-transmuter-at-level-12. 2 stormshields a day, 3 lightning bolts as innate abilities, all of the special abilities for being the main character, plus wizard spells. The amount of protective spells that she can erect is insane. And she does nice damage, too. :)

    What's a transmuter?
I thought the only specialists worth playing were the invoker and conjuror. Do enlighten me.

You can dual from a kit to a kit?

I've never understood what people like so much about blades. I have to try one for my next solo attempt.

No, you cannot dual from a kit to another kit.

I like Blades plenty enough. Just try one who has Free Action.

In every version of the game I've played, you cannot dual class to a specialist Mage, so I don't understand how you did that.

Shadow Keeper is the way to do it.

I was thinking about soloing a blade but I'm not sure what I would do about all of those locked doors and chests.

What should I do about that?

For my solo kensai I always used "draw upon holy might" for opening those vital locked doors. But for a blade a knock spell would be a good idea.
