I've seen a lot of mixed reviews. Sounds like many feel that neither the adventure nor the Hawke backstory are particularly compelling. I've also read that it's not a good value for the $10 price tag. Finally, I've read that there are some reused areas from the original game (warehouses, if you can believe)... which is really not at all forgivable after reactions to this very thing in the original game.

You get some good armor and a weapon, I guess, on the upside.

I'm not feeling overly motivated to pick it up. And this is fairly sad. A similar DLC for Origins would have been purchased by me without a second thought. Now, second thought's be damned... I'm not sure I'll be picking it up at all.

I'm not even sure I'll be picking up Dragon Age III, whever it comes around. It's like Bioware is creating a game that requires a minimum of 24 months to create (or however long it is) but EA tells them, that's great, but you only get 18 months. So wrong.

It was alright. The storyline was decent but outside of that it really doesn't do anything. It's nice being able to have Hawkes sibling back in the party for a little as they help to flesh out the story instead of just having strangers, but it's nothing special.

Its mostly hack and slash, really. And a very very cheesy fight at the end. You are also forced to use some anime-hero`ish oversized weapon during most of the mission. An enormous thing, thats aparantly weightless. The armour you get is very cool though. Too bad we can`t equip armours on companions. Having 10 good armours for just Hawke is pointless. I`d give the dlc a 3 out of 10.

[IMG] I just started playing it yesterday. I decided to do it just before the Deep Roads Expedition at the end of act 1, because certain companions offer more dialogue.
Compared to the regular game, the challenge level is above average. Many serious encounters, following eachother rapidly. I recommend bringing a healer with you. I'm getting many decent items from it too.
What makes it extra frustrating, is that my party can hurt itself on nightmare difficulty: Isabela keeps getting in the way of Carver's Mighty Blow, and Varric's Bursting Arrow is a liability too.

    ---------- Added 15 hours, 27 minutes and 4 seconds later... ----------

I progressed through the deep roads last night. One thing I like, is how they 'reinvented' the darkspawn.
    Some spoilers:
The dwarven Carta members aboveground were tough, and they unleashed Brontos on me. There were 2 at once even, and after they finally died, I couldn't save before waves of Carta Thugs swamped me. I lost all my injury kits in that fight. The Carta Master Archers need to be tanked quickly, because the area damage they produce is heavy and constant.
Fortunately, I seem to be getting some extra healing, more than I can account for with my Healing Aura. Perhaps it's a battlefield effect in very tough areas, and it's necessary!
The Genlock Alpha is the toughest thing on the battlefield, taking ages to whittle down. It's almost as large as an ogre, and does a devastating shield charge. It takes almost no damage from the front, with that comical 3-foot thick shield. Regular Genlocks are also hulking beasts, somewhat resembling mabari hounds now. The Hurlock Alpha is also a challenge, but goes down more quickly. It's head resembles an emissary actually, with a weird mitre hat. I've been doing some careful retreating to tackle the Alphas alone, so I haven't tackled 2 Alphas, or even Alpha + minions. I took on an Ogre and Genlock Alpha, in that order. Only saw 1 emissary, race is unspecified (probably hurlock), and it was with a horde of corpses, and casts shield a lot. If it has a nightmare spell, it didn't get to cast it. The toughest group is an avoidable ambush, with an Emissary Apprentice, Hurlock Alpha & Genlock Alpha, and minions. I survived that ambush too!:D

I played it twice now. I have to say that the final boss was a surprise and I thought, no way can I beat this guy given who he is. It also made me wonder more about Hawke's father and how powerful he actually was.

After playing Legacy, the only character class I feel that has justification in DAII is the mage.

I'm doing all of my DAO and DAII plays to prepare for DAIII. Even though DAII was a big let down at first, with all of the patches the game is a bit better but there are some items that still upset, but not as much as last year when it was released.

I will still pre-order DAIII in hopes that improve upon DAII and make it more like DAO.
