Collector's edition custom PCs?

    I read that besides the added two merchants (Joluv and Deidre, which can now be gotten by ToB patch or Ease of use mod), the Collector's edition also contained pre generated player characters to choose from.

    Does anyone have these or know where to get to know of the stats of these PCs?
    I'm just curious.

    The ToB patch only adds one merchant; if you want both, we've had the file for that on SP for years. You don't need to install a mod for that.

    As for any custom PCs, I don't remember them being included, but even if they were, who'd pick pregenerated PCs over making their own?

    I read that in a German forum I'm not registered in.
    Apparently there are 13 custom avatars sold as bonus if you buy BG2 at gog.com.
    And someone mentioned that these custom avatars are pre generated characters only available on the special CD of the Collector's edition.
    And I'm very curious what these characters would be.
    I know that your own generated PC is always better, but as I said I'm curious ^^.
    I hope someone knows something more about it?

    I have that disc. From what I can tell, without actually installing it, it appears to be the regular party members Arie-Yoshi, with the inclusion of Jon, that you can play. There is no text file with the disk, just an index, with a guide for Chapter One (which is pretty useless), so I can't tell much. If I discover more, I will post it for you here.

    The avatars that GOG does for games are usually MSN avatars or such, not stuff to be used in-game.

    Would be reasonable.
    Just to avoid a misunderstanding: I'm talking about pre generated characters (like e.g. the ones in the NWN 2 collector's edition), not actual game avatars in game.

    Just to be 100% sure it would be nice if you checked all the content on the special disc (it is the pre-order disc I guess?) :)

    I tried to check it the best I could. There is really not a whole lot on it. It has the concept art, game guide, sound track, merchant, and the files for the pre-generated characters. All the portraits were for the usual party members, and Jon Iranicus, but there was really not much else besides the data files. I looked for a text file that might provide more info, but there was not one, except the index I mentioned. I don't have the game installed atm, but I should take the time to have it on one of my drives. I will put it on my list and when I get it installed, I will check the stats for you and post them here. :)

    I don't think I ordered it, but bought it at a retail store. It may have come in the box. :hmm:

    If you don't want to install the game, could you upload the *.BIO and *.CHR files?
    By the way, I would be a bit disappointed if the stats were mere copies of the NPCs you encounter in the game.

    I don't like to disappoint you, Hannibal, but I don't believe these are pre-generated characters. Unless it uses the actual game files for generation, the character files do not appear to be complete. There are about 4 different portrait files for each character (the different sizes), and sound files for them, but I don't see much else. There is a folder which is "_vti_cnf" that has character files I can't open (Arie-Yoshi). Actually, they appear to be even more character portriats that I can't open. Maybe you can help me make sense of these files. But as it is, I have no idea why these character files are on this disc.

    _vti_cnf are FrontPage server extension directories so nothing in there should actually be usable.

    Anyway, I got copies of the bonus and pre-order CDs back in the day and the only stuff I found worthwhile were the bonus merchants, which I put on SP. I'm pretty sure if there were any usable character files and such, I would have put them up too.

    Yeah, I didn't remember there being much on that disk either. But when it came up on this thread I thought maybe I had missed something.

    Oh, thanks for that. I would hate to get her name wrong, considering that last I remember I had her baby in my inventory and all. ;)
