I'm definitely in a slump for fantasy novels. One recent year I read 15. With what's happened to the Forgotten Realms novels (the 4th edition and 100 year time jump) I've burned out on all my favorite series and I'm looking for something new to start reading.

As mentioned elsewhere here, found a omnibus of fantasy novels written by
Henry Rider Haggard, born 1835 in England, was the forerunner of King Solomons
Mines, Temple of Doom etc. have just about finished the omnibus which is his
collected works consisting of 69 books. I used a Kindle and downloaded all 69 for 79 cents although it to a while to download them. Cheap, good reading

Worth reading, though the stand-alone follow up is significantly better. Without spoiling anything, if the first and possibly second volumes strike you as bog-standard traditional fantasy, only bloodier A: possibly pay more attention B: keep reading. The pay off is worth it.

Why the hell does this thread keep ending up at the top of the new posts thing on the main page? Even when nobody posts, it appears there.

I think when someone votes on a poll, even if they don't post, the software looks upon that as a new entry and bumps it up.

[IMG] Yeah, I hit "check new posts" when I log on, once had four polls where I sat for a few moments just thinking "I swear I already read this"

I'm currently reading non fiction to write my own fiction :skeptic:
