I got this to work on my first play-through, and now I'm using a walkthrough and can't get it to trigger.

    From Dan Simpson's Walkthrough:
Am I missing a trigger or something?

He did (on another forum for me). It's triggered from a chat with Sere the Mystic in the Gathering Dust bar.

IIRC the walkthrough tells you to do the Tomb before you speak to Hamrys. However, if you've already done the Tomb, you can't ask Hamrys (or anyone else) about your journal anymore. I missed out on this quest entirely my first time around because I'd done the Tomb during my first visit to the Drowned Nations, but it worked on the next playthrough when I postponed doing the Tomb until later.

I had done the tomb, with no trigger. After talking to Sere the Skeptic, I then got the dialogue to ask Hamrys about his father.

The reward is minimal, and I got nothing out of schlepping back to the tomb to use the plans.

What do you mean by "with no trigger"? If I understand your post, did you manage to talk to Hamrys about his father's journal even though you've already found yours and can't ask other people about it?

I talked to Hamrys about my tomb after having gone through it already. The only thing you need to do to talk to Hamrys about his Father is to talk to Sere the Skeptic, who talks about how Hamrys won't shut up and has a dad.

Ok thanks, I'll have to try that in my next playthrough :)
