I can't believe I missed this, earlier this week! That's what happens when you scan through the news on someone else's computer. Anyway, Desslock reports that Infogrames has acquired Hasbro, the owner of Wizards of the Coast which, of course, owns Dungeons and Dragons. The price? $100 million. This will mean some serious competition for Interplay (and SSI) in the D&D cRPG arena. Hasbro has been working on an online D&D game for a while now, but according to Desslock, they couldn't come up with anything that could top Bioware's upcoming DM-mode oriented game, Neverwinter Nights. This move makes it even more likely that Hasbro will not be granting the D&D license to other publishers in the future, letting Infogrames take full advantage of the license.
