The latest update, released on Feb 22, added 5 new kits to the game along with a ton of fixes & improvements. Dwarven Defender(Fighter Kit, Dwarves only), Dragon Disciple(Sorcerer Kit), Shadowdancer(Thief Kit), Dark Moon Monk & Sun Soul Monk.

What I like most is not the kits themselves, but the th higher level options inside each kit, which is a good indicator IMO that we will definitely be seeing a BG2:EE in the future. :)

Is there anywhere we can see a description of these kits? This might seal the deal and make me buy BG:EE. I'm going to miss the dialogue mod though.

The BG:EE forums on th Beamdog site I would guess. Sorry for the lack of link, but I am posting from work and cannot access it directly. Luckily SP is not blocked! This might get you there...forum.baldursgate.com/

From what tidbits that I recall reading yesterday...

Dwarven Defender - 5% Damage Resistance to Weapn types every 5 levels starting.

Dragon Disciple - Sorcerer with increasing Breath Weapon Ability, some other minor abilites and limited to only 4 spells per level.

The dwarven defender looks overpowered. Similar to a barbarian, he gets an innate 5% physical resistance bonus every five levels to a max of 20% at level 20. However, unlike a barbarian, the dwarf gets a defensive stance ability that gives him 50% physical resistance for 10 rounds.

So basically innate resistance (20%) + defensive stance (50%) + Hardiness (40%) = 110% resistance to all physical damage for 10 rounds.

110% means he is HEALED by taking physical damage, and it has a very long duration of 10 rounds. (A mage's Protection from Magical Weapons in comparison only lasts 4 rounds.)

Yeah, the dwarven defender looks extremely overpowered.

Thanks for the link. The Sun Soul monk seems by far the most interesting, what with all the cool attack spells. Shadowdancer seems like it will become ineffective by the later game with things like staff of the magi taking it's one useful ability away.

Where the Dwarven Defender "could" be overpowered at higher levels as in a BG2 setting, for game levels 1-8 of BG:EE, not so much. Plus they changed some of the Racial Attirbute modifications. Dwarves now have max Dex-16, Cha-15. So they can lose on AC. Possibly forces you to use the GoD on your Dwarven PCs, instead of say Minsc or Ajantis, leaving them more vulnerable to damage.

Many mods are now up and running for BG:EE. There is a "kitpack" that adds a ton of kits. Several cleric kitsare included, which I like for variety. Cyric, Mystra, Kelemvor for example. I have found a couple of mods that add dwarf merchants located at FAI, behind the temple. There are also 4 NPCs that I have seen out there. Valerie, a Cowled Wizards Sorcerer. Isra, a Paladin of Sune. Margarita, a LN Halfling Stalker. And Helarine?, a Cleric of Kelemvor. I currently added Valerie and Isra to my party, PC is an Elf Swashy. I will add Valerie as well.

Many mods and mod ideas can be found in the Modding section on the Beamdog site. Not sure what Tal will be putting up on SP. Other various modding communities have some of their stuff in the works as well.

The game is morphing, slowly but surely, into a real nice engine with lot's of options.
