    There really can't be all that many images considering I keep seeing the same ones over and over. But yeah, it would take a bit of work and there are plenty of other concerns with the tag system.

    Suffice it to say, there are quite a few images (not all of them public, however). The showcase is probably caching so that it doesn't pull random images on every page refresh but only periodically.

    I kept seeing the same ones on vB too. Although, statistically speaking, if I load the page 5 times a day and it shows me 10 random public images, they're gonna start repeating pretty quickly with such a small set, even if they're completely random.

    For the moment, everyone will be seeing ads, even SPS account holders. As soon as I manage to restore all the proper account settings, the ads will stop showing if you're a supporting member.

    Why is there still a link to the IRC chatrooms in the header if we're not using them anymore? Might be time to take those pages down unless we're planning a comeback.

    We might have a better use for a shoutbox in the forum sidebar or something with the current amount of user activity.

    The whole site will be getting a makeover, dealing with the chatrooms is on the to-do as well, no worries. A shoutbox is quite likely soon enough. I wasn't doing much on the old site for quite some time because most of what I had planned was contingent on having XF as a base to work from and with. Now that it's operational, there's work being done in the background on a daily basis.

    Yes, that's on the short-term to-do. I was looking into that just a few hours ago.

    Yea, only there's so much to do that it'll take quite some time before I can review and change every single thing. We need to have the old stuff up in the meanwhile since most of it is still functional. I'll update the links, but that also means fixing up the rules & FAQ, which again takes time.

    I was wrong in my earlier post above -- the ads on the forums should not show for anyone logged into their SPS account on any of the site pages, e.g. on the right side here. For the time being, we're still using the old SPS system, but a new one tied to your forum account will replace it in the future.

    For those of you who like more condensed forum layouts, I've added a Fixed Width style. You can select it via the "Style Chooser" in the bottom left corner of the forum layout (click on "Fluid" to see the available selection).

    Reading a fixed width layout is much more comfortable for most people since you don't have to move your eyes and/or head around from one side of the screen to the other for every line you want to read. It's the same reason why newspapers use columns and don't have text stretched across the entire width of the page. Personally, I much prefer a narrower reading area than one stretched across the entire screen but YMMV.

    Well, it's true that shorter lines are easier to read in a newspaper, but that theory doesn't really translate all that well to computer screens. Also, it really shouldn't be easy. Focusing on the same spot on the screen without much movement or refocusing is bad for eyesight over long periods of time. Not that anyone spends nearly as much time looking at a computer screen as I do. :shake:

    YouTube embedding used to be quite tedious on vBulletin and in many cases too complicated for less advanced users. Now it's as easy as copy/pasting the full YouTube link into your post. XenForo will automatically embed it. In addition to YT videos, media from the following sites can be (automatically) embedded: Dailymotion, Facebook, Liveleak, Metacafe and Vimeo.
