I'm sorry Tal, but I'm not sure if I heard that correctly. Did you say no kits in 3rd Ed.? You mean no more Avengers? No Inquisitors? No specialist/wild mages? NOO!

Yeah, I still haven't gotten the 3rd Ed. Players Handbook.

    Rhythm,
    This is what Tal said:
That means that there are no kits at all in 3rd edition D&D. That means no more Avengers, Inquisitors and Wild Mages. There will be specialist mages, since that isn't a kit. You understand now, or should I dumb it down for you a bit more?

[IMG] Sigh, I understood what it meant, I just thought he may have mis-typed or something. Now I know :p. So instead of kits, what do you get? Prestige classes? Or does it only allow you to play 'vanilla' classes?

(Really need to get the Handbook)

You use "skills" and "feats" to customize your character. On top of that you can add levels from other classes including prestige classes. (The rules of multiclassing are completely revised.) This gives IMO a more flexible system.

Why don't you go and read SRD for yourself.

    Human - the most skilled
Fighter - the most skilled warrior

Longbowman or longswordsman. Possibly pikeman or halberdier.. maybe a 2handed sword champion.

    EDIT: Maybe Paladin..

[IMG] I'll probably start with a gnome bard - I love the flexibility of 3rd edition :) After that, who knows....

[IMG] I am going with a paladin. I'm going to develop a fairly *biblical* code of ethics and role play it. Going to lean heavily on St. Thomas Aquinas's rules for just war. I might have to re-read St. Augustine's "City of God" in preperation also :holy:

I like the idea of an elvin paladin, esp. since Corellian Larethon (sp?) is my favorite diety in the game. But I need to research that a bit more.

I am going to role play The Wild Man, and chew on roots in the morning. I will live in the bush and speak to the animals!

You will all learn to have at least a grain of respect for the druid class! They're not all that bad. Well, they are, but thats besides the point. Lets get some more druids here so we can start a grove man! Think of the possibilites!

[IMG] Now, what can ever be more exotic than an elven sorceress? :D

I'll start as a rogue and work my way up as either wizard or fighter, depending on the area I'll will to start in.

A Rogue/Bard, if such a thing is possible.

    Definitely a nice all-around swashbuckling character :)

[IMG] Thorin, you can count on me. Part of my Tithe to the needy will certainly go to you. Unfortunately, I'm also going to be handing you religious tracts and trying to get you into a 12 step group. Who knows, maybe someday you can be a former drunk and grow more sophistocated addictions, like money, women and power ;)
