[IMG] The manual says they get +1 to hit and damage every 5 levels.

    I have three questions:

    1) does this apply to non-thief weapons (if the character dual classes)?

    2) is it applied at levels 1, 5, 10, ect. Or is it applied at 1, 6, 11, ect.?

    3) does the AC bonus apply in non-thief armors?
    TIA

    1) It should, otherwise it would be a marked inconsistency. +THAC0 bonuses operate very differently from backstab.

    2) Every five levels exactly, ie +1 at level 5, +2 at level 10, etc.

    3) Yes. Pure swashies are known for the extremely high AC they can reach when using medium or better armor + buff spells/items (UAI abuse).

You were asking about the +hit and damage bonus, not the +AC bonus.

The AC bonus starts with +1 at level 1, then +2 at level 5, +3 at level 10, etc.

I thought it was Kensais that were renown for their high AC that made them glass cannons instead of tanks.

    Swashbucklers get extremely low AC.

Remember, in 2nd edition AD&D when it comes to THAC0, AC, and saving throws, the lower the better.

Ok, maybe I'm being a little anal here, but it's something important to remember. AC 1 is better than AC 8 in 2nd edition. AC -20 is a desirable but near impossible goal without abusing UAI combined with buffs. AC -30 makes you practically invincible to physical attacks.

    There's a hard-coded limit of -26.

I should have used the term "good" AC instead of "high" AC there.
