Why can a stalker cast his 3 mage spells wearing armor but a mage can't? Just a little curiosity here :tobattle:

Because a stalker is a ranger kit and rangers, like paladins, are deemed to be divine casters, not arcane casters and can therefore cast spells in armor. The fact that the spells are mage spells is just an exception - they are still divine casters. By the way, I am not sure that 2e even had this ability but, again, have spent so much time away from the pen and paper game that nothing would surprise me.

The Stalker is a ranger that specializes in intelligence-gathering. Although a ranger by name, Stalkers are more like movie spies except they prefer discretion/stealth/interrogation over things like socializing/seduction. They tend to be highly intelligent, and according to the rulebook the original Stalker kit even gets a limited photographic memory bonus ability at level 10.
Imagine Sherlock Homes plus considerable martial/field skills and minus the the social grace.

This is probably why they are able to backstab and cast mage spells in BG. In-game wise they probably don't cast spells in the traditional sense.
