    1) Having completed the game twice, I would like to know if there is anyway to weapon focus and specialise with the sword of gith ?

Unfortunately it is classed as a "Universal sword" so I'm not sure if any weapon bonuses apply. I picked the improved critical feats for longsword but unfortunately found it had no effect on the sword. The other sword I know that is classed as a "universal sword" is the ceremonial sword given by lord nasher before becoming one of the neverwinter nine.

2)As I know I will get the sword of gith during the game, is it still worth specialising in other weapons ?

    2) Sure, you don't always have to use the Sword of Gith. In fact, I rarely used it.

    1) no. There aren't any weapon focuses or improved criticals which will apply to it.

I'm with Blackthorne, it wasn't that great of a sword, frankly, and a Weapon Master would probably be better off without it. Of course, my mage had little use for it.

But look at the stats of the sword, and it also the best looking sword in the game:

    Base Damage: 1d8
    Base Critical Threat: 19-20/x2
    Base Damage Type: Slashing
    Weapon Size: Medium
Feats Required: Simple, Wizard, Druid, Bard, or Monk
    Base Item: Universal Sword
    Charges: 3
    Weight: 4 pound(s)

    -- Special Properties --

Damage Bonus vs. Racial Type: Outsider 1d12
    Damage Bonus: Magical 1d4
    Enhancement Bonus + 5
    Ability Bonus: Charisma + 1
    Ability Bonus: Constitution + 3
    Ability Bonus: Dexterity + 1
    Ability Bonus: Intelligence + 1
    Ability Bonus: Strength + 2
    Ability Bonus: Wisdom + 1
    Extra Melee Damage: Bludgeoning
    Extra Melee Damage: Piercing
    Keen
    Damage Resistance: Acid 5/-
    Damage Resistance: Cold 5/-
    Damage Resistance: Electrical 5/-
    Damage Resistance: Fire 5/-
Cast Spell: Blade Storm [1 Charge/Use]
Cast Spell: Meditative Restoration [Unlimited Uses/Day]
Cast Spell: Shard Barrier [1 Charge/Use]
Cast Spell: Shard Hail [Unlimited Uses/Day]

I suppose the stat bonuses are not so useful as items like the Headband of intellect +6, Girdle of stone giant strength (+6 STR), Nymph cloak +6, Periapt of wisdom +6, and boots of striding +6 are available plus more. And the elemental damage resistances can be replaced by a ring of power or ring of elemental resistance.

Maybe the sword of gith is not as powerful as it looks but I've noticed another powerful weapon. In crossroad keep there is a merchant who sells a very powerful katana. It's the 'Katana of the Mummylord' and it has the following stats:

    Base Damage: 1d10
    Base Critical Threat: 19-20/x2
    Base Damage Type: Slashing
    Weapon Size: Medium
    Feats Required: Exotic
    Base Item: Katana
    Weight: 5 pound(s)

    -- Special properties --

    Enhancement Bonus [+ 5]
On Hit: Poison [DC=22] [Amount: 1d2 Dexterity Damage]
    Use Limitation: Racial Type: Undead

What I would like to know is how many use magic device points would I need to overcome the Use limitation for undead. I'm guessing that even with the 'able learner' feat, I would not be able to use this katana with any fighter type class.

I also noticed that from all the shards giving bonuses to the sword of gith the death immunity shard bonus was never applied to the sword itself! Is this a bug ?

Bah! My character created Holy Sword of Disruption is better than that:

    1d10 Cold Iron Bastard Sword
    Enhancement +5
    2d6 to Evil Opponents
Disruption: Undead destroyed unless save vs. DC14

I also made a Silver Sword of Lifestealing:

    1d10 Cold Iron Bastard Sword
    Enhancement +5
    2d6 to Evil Opponents
    Regeneration 5

I don't think I've found a better weapon for my main character than those I have made myself.

You can make weapons that are really good though. I made Greatswords (2d6 base damage) out of various materials (to overcome damage resistances) adding 1d6 elemental damage (fire, cold, shock or acid) and 2d6 damage vs. alignment (evil is a good choice) and +5 enchantment (+5 attack and damage).

Ah... Bel beat me to it. :)

@Sir Belisarius. Thats a very powerful weapon you've got there. I mentioned the katana of the mummylord because I think I might be able to further enhance it with extra abilities like elemental damage and 2d6 damage vs evil opponents.

Also why bother with exotic weapons like katanas and bastard swords if you can get scythes and greatswords, falchions and longswords ? Is there a hidden advantage to using exotic weapons or is it just about looks ? The only bastard sword I've seen worth noticing is the Bloodletter +4.

    Bloodletter +4

    Base Damage: 1d10
    Base Critical Threat: 19-20/x2
    Base Damage Type: Slashing
    Weapon Size: Medium
    Feats Required: Exotic
    Base Item: Bastard Sword
    Weight: 6 pound(s)

    - Special abilities -

    Enhancement Bonus + 4
    On Hit: Wounding DC=14
    Regeneration: Vampiric + 2

There's only so much enhancement any weapon can have when you craft it (it seemed to be 3 enhancements).

So if later on in the game I decided to pick up the Rift Hammer I would be able to further enhance it ?

    Rift hammer

    Base Damage: 1d8
    Base Critical Threat: 20/x3
    Base Damage Type: Bludgeoning
    Weapon Size: Medium
    Feats Required: Martial
    Base Item: Warhammer
    Weight: 5 pound(s)

    - Special Properties -
    Damage Bonus: Sonic 1d8
    Enhancement Bonus + 6

Also are you allowed to add different types of elemental damage to the same sword. So I would have a +5 enhancement to a weapon and 2 different elemental damage bonues (e.g fire and acid damage on the same sword) ?

You should be able to enhance the Rift Hammer since I was able to enhance the Gemsword.

I never tried to add two separate elemental enhancements, so I don't know. I'd guess you could.

The stats of the Gith sword vary based on your class. I think my wizard's had +10 to Concentration and +3 to Intelligence.
