Maybe I'm alone on this one, but I had never heard of this author or this series. However, I am about to finish the second book and finding myself totally enjoying it. Has anyone else ever read them? If so, please no spoilers.

This deserves a bump. I have read all the books in the series (to date) and really enjoyed them.

Oh man, i totally forgot about this series. I read the first 2 books when they had just came out..
It was a pain in the ass waiting for the 2nd one to come out after i read the first one, and i guess i totally forgot about the series while waiting for book #3. :p
I might have to try and see if they have all the books at the local library. (though there's plenty of other stuff on my to-read list as well.)

I was going to say the author owes me a commission until I saw the word library.

Yeah, as much as i like the books, if i had to buy each book i read, i wouldn't have a penny left in my bank account :p
The libraries here are all part of one organization as well, so if your local one does not have the book you're looking for you can request it, and they will get it delivered from one of the other libraries.

I am only slightly better. I typically will download the .epub for the first book, but if I like it I then purchase all the rest.

I used to purchase a lot of books, but i think it's just kind of wasteful.
Usually i'll read it 2-3 times in the first few months/year that i have the book, after which it barely gets touched at all and just sits there in my bookcase.
If it 's lucky and i like the book i might give it a re-read once every year or so, the unlucky ones get moved to the attic.
