Yeah they should add new weapons, I believe BGI and II lacked them. Specially the Scythe and double axes or double swords.

I like the idea of new weapons although I don't like the idea of being too cross-cultural (i don't fancy seeing bo-sticks, shureken, nun-chucks etc (no idea how you spell these things). On a slight tangent I would like to see a realistic amount of kit being carried and this would also restrict parties from being too powerful. Have you ever heard of warriors actually carrying two great swords ten throwing axes, two flails, a battle axe, oh and a great warhammer? I think whatever the weapons you should be limited to only two of large size. That said I'd love to have some iron spikes to throw onto the floor to slow down some great monster as it charged - I could fit a load of them in my back pack (provided it didn't have 20 potions in it).

I'd love to see some cross-cultural stuff, but there shouldn't be too many new weapons skills. I know a bow and a sword are two different things, but a long sword and a scimitar aren't used very differently. And while a katana is different, anyone who knows a thing or two about blades can figure one out without much work. I know, I did. The three things that really change the way they are used are weight (and center of mass), length, and the type of blade. A spear, a halbred, and a staff are not used differently enough to warrant three different skill groups. On the other hand, a manriki-guisaru is.

@Spirit I think it's the whole idea about the setting the BG series uses (especially 2).. Iirc it's called Dragons and demiliches, and the setting is biased toward throwing the toughest most legendary creatures in your face, thus you'll need some good items. I don't think you can kill a Dragon or even a Lich without carrying the most über of über gear :p

Not like in NwN where a single warrior can slay two dragons at once, with some medi-core equipment...

Not BG2, it's called Dragons and demiliches, Dragons and demiliches is about throwing the über of über monsters in your face so you can kick their a$$ with the über of über gear.
