View Full Version : PoR
Dane Sat, 29th Sep '01, 10:25pm Oh man, this thing is brutally riddled with bugs. I have a top of the line system and it's wreaking havok. I'd give you details but there is no point since the game is reacting differently to everyone's PC. I've even read rumors of it wiping people's HDs.
All I can say is....OUCH!
Crawl Sun, 30th Sep '01, 1:30am Well all I can say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!!!!:lol::lol: And please, if someone is experiencing nasty bugs, I'm not laughing at you. It's just that I've been telling people that if and when PoR *finally* comes out and it is still bug ridden (after we all have had to endure enless speaches by the company claiming they were waiting to put the game out so it could be as bug free as possible), I would laugh and laugh and laugh. And guess what? I was right. I mean, come on. Now I'm forgiving and I can understand a few bugs in a game. I've never said a terrible word about BG even and it had a bug that ruined my main game after months of playing. But after all this time, they actually have bugs that are whipping away poeples system files? I mean, how much more major of a bug can you have than this, and it's part if the *installation* process for god's sake. I am personally glad I spent my money on Arcanum instead a couple of weeks ago instead of waiting till this buggy mostrosity came out to compare the two. I honestly can't say enough bad things about the design team that lets something like this happen after delay after delay. If anyone thought any of my comments, Tal's comments, or anyones comments for that matter were a bit harsh before the game came out, well....what can I say. I'd say they were justified;)
Volar Blackmane Sun, 30th Sep '01, 5:58am At last I can be happy when a game doesn't work on my comp... And Arcanum has its fair share of bugs too, the worst one is when all the enemies are killed in turn based mode, but my character simply won't get her turn... Effectively stopping the game. Seems to happen only when people not in your party fight at your side and is incredibly annaying. So I wouldn't preach about the superiority of Arcanum if I were you :p
Sad, really, I liked the game when it was on its developing stages.
Dane Sun, 30th Sep '01, 8:05am There is just no excuse for this...NONE! I'm lucky in that PoR didn't wipe my windows system files but still, no one wants to buy a $60 (canada) game and not even be able to install it. Has Stormfront or Ubisoft never heard of QA? I read on the main page of this site that Ubisoft said they'd have their QA department look into the issues but cmon, if they let a product THIS flawed out the door in the first place how much faith can you have in them? I mean, there's obviously a HUGE bug in the install file...how did they miss that? My real question is, if they actually have a QA department, what were they testing this game on? It sure as hell wasn't windows 9x.
Taluntain Sun, 30th Sep '01, 3:16pm Heh, just as I predicted. After all the talk about how much time was spent to ship the game as bug-free as possible, something as basic as re/installing the game was not even tested thoroughly. What the hell were they doing all those years spent at creating this game? I bet they rushed it out before any extensive testing was done on it just so it would be out before NWN.
Ehh...
Turambar Sun, 30th Sep '01, 5:49pm If they haven't gotten all those bugs out before shipping the game in Europe I might just cancel my order of it.
Seems kind of stupid to make copies of all important files on my harddisk just because I am installing a game.....:hmm: :almostmad: :hmm:

Skedaddle Sun, 30th Sep '01, 8:33pm What you say is indeed encouraging me against buying it. Ah, well, I'll just save up and get FRCS.
blazerskaggs Fri, 5th Oct '01, 12:39am I have already bought the game so I really don't have much choice in whether or not to get it. All I have to say is that it better work on my system or I'll be complining like crazy to their website. I just can't believe they let a bug that big through.
Subra Tue, 9th Oct '01, 1:06am I haven't had much problem with bugs on my system, but then I have a very good system....what the real problem with PoR is that the interface is a cumbersome menu driven pain in the ass and the turn based combat stops the game cold stealing any semblance of continuity. I hope I can get my game store to give me store credit for returning this turd.
