View Full Version : Purchase of POR reconsidered
War Nerve Sun, 30th Dec '01, 10:33am I was going to go out and buy POR tomorrow because it seems like a very popular game, and I like trying out new RPG's. After looking at these posts, however, it seems that I shouldn't be too quick to buy it. Thanks for the indirect advice.
Mollusken Sun, 30th Dec '01, 2:42pm Search for the review in the news database, and see if this is something for you. Most of the reviews were not happy about the game though. Maybe you should stick to the old BioWare/Black Isle games until Neverwinter Nights is released, or try games which are not AD&D.
Extremist Sun, 30th Dec '01, 3:50pm Ok, this is my suggestion.
Download demo and try it. That's the best thing to start with.
If you can't download it, then try to borrow PoR from someone for a day or two.
Just don't buy it before you see it. OK?
War Nerve Sun, 30th Dec '01, 7:57pm Ok.

Alith Anar Wed, 2nd Jan '02, 11:14am I bought the game three days ago. And, I must say, apart from my CPU speed being BARE minimum and the game running too slow for my liking - combat is difficult when jerky... I have to say I quite like it.
It's a bit disappointing that some classes and races were left out, but I guess it has to fit a certain world-mold and the characters available do the job.
But the others are right - try it yourself, 'coz you won't know until you do if it's your cup of tea. And it is quite a lot different to BGII.
Cheers
Reaper Thu, 10th Jan '02, 11:46am I like the game, it might be a bit slow ( the speed patch sorts that out ). One thing to remember if you played the original pool of radiance and the rest of the old ones you can see that PoRII does maintain the same sort of .. how can I put it ..options and combat interface
Alith Anar Sat, 19th Jan '02, 3:37am A 'speed' patch, Reaver? Please inform me of where I could obtain such a sanity-saving device - I would be much obliged.

strange_machine Sat, 19th Jan '02, 5:17pm i have POR, and i don'tenjoy it much. Waste of money. I hope NWN is a better 3rd edition rpg game.
Alith Anar Sun, 20th Jan '02, 4:40am Thanks Extremist.
Llandon Sun, 20th Jan '02, 7:50am Hey!
I've got a copy for you....Only been used once. I would be HAPPY to be rid of it. The original POR games back in the 80's were MUCH more fun. :(
cirian16 Thu, 7th Feb '02, 2:14am Whoever said that the game was jerky for them.....if the speed ptach doen't sort it out you might wanna try downloading a rambooster it fixed my problems with games that were a little.....jerky.
