View Full Version : A question regarding the cheat console

I made a mistake when creating my new character, and need to raise his Wisdom by two points. So I activate the cheat console by pressing "tilde" and Shift, get the yellow > , write SetWIS 16 and press enter. I then receive a message saying "entered target mode" or some such. So far, so good.

This is where my problems start. I'm not in any way able to "enter the target". The cursor changes into an arrow when I move it over my character, so I've tried left clicking on him (the avatar). Nothing happens. So, I've tried right clicking on him - nothing happens. Then I've tried left - and right clicking on his portrait. Still nothing happens!

The only thing that happens is that the cheat code turns green and dissappears. I've also experimented with a combination of keyboard and mouse, like just hovering the cursor over the character (both avatar and portrait) and pressing enter button or shift button. Still nothing happens, I get frustrated and exasperated, and can't think of more variations right now.

How in heavens name am I going to indicate the target I wish to upgrade? Is there another way to activate him that I haven't thought of yet?

To use cheats, you must type "DebugMode 1" (case sensitive, without the " things). Then you can cheat away.

The first thing to do after hitting the ~ key (no Shift key is required btw), is type DebugMode 1
this will activate the cheat console. THEN type in you cheat command and click on your character. THis should give you the results you want. When you're finished, so you don't see all the waypoints and stuff highlighted as you go through the game, make sure you turn debug mode back off with
DebugMode 0
That should take care of everything!

Ahh, yes that worked, thanks! :) I had typed Debug Mode = 1 in the .ini file, but had forgotten it was also supposed to go in the console, prior to the cheat codes. :heh:

And the yellow things on the ground was really annoying, so thanks for the advice for how to turn them off again! :D
