I heard some good and read some bad about the game & I'm gonna pick it up today. I'm gonna get the Platinum DVD Edition so I get both mods.

Should I even play the orginal game, or just go right to the addons?

I'm also always play RPGs as a spellcaster, should I learn towards wiz or sorc? I'm all about power, so should I stick to a chaotic evil?

I like the OC, and have played it several times. It's even better with the platinum edition since you can use the new prestige classes. And if you are a powergamer, the expansions lift the level cap from the OC.

In my opinion, sorcerers are the powergamer way to go, but don't ask me about alignment since I have never played and will never play an evil alignment.

Actually at high levels wizards are more powerful than sorcerers. (almost the same spells by day and far more skill points and feats)

Na, Sorcerers are better, if you make use of the Meta-Magic feats :p

Anyhow Arkain, I'd recommend skipping the Original Campaign, and the expansions. The exellent thing about NWN is the amazing multiplayer options.
If you are looking for quality Role Play, check out A Land Far Away (http://www.alandfaraway.org/about), or if you are after other types of play, there are many multiplayer worlds out there. The NWN campaigns are hopeless, but nothing beats NWN online.

However, as you've said it yourself, you're a powergamer, so ALFA isnt really meant for you.

There are a lot of other worlds out there which do promote good builds so you can try that out.

However, it's important to find a good server, because many of them base completely on getting more powerful, with no story involved at all. OC does have a story at least, though there's no competition at all.

I would, also, suggest you don't play the original OC. Skip right to the expansions.

Paladin1/Sorcerer19 is decent powergaming.

And i would also suggest "Bastions of War" under Arena servers for powergaming. :p
