I've heard rumours that the expansion will include prestige classes. Is this true? If so, what classes will be offered? Does anyone know?

They aren't rumors, bioware has confirmed that SoU will have prestige classes.
Arcane Archer, Assassin, Blackguard, Harper Scout and Shadowdancer will be in the expansion.

Too bad there is no Prestige Class for my NG Cleric like the Divine Disciple. I guess I should pick some of the many new feats to achieve these goals. :)

I was hoping for Purple Dragon Knight...But I guess that is too FR specific

Same could be said about the Harpers. It is all set in FR. Maybe Purple Dragon Knights are too Cormyr specific... :D

I read the description of the Blackguard...Pretty cool, but one thing stood out

Level 3: Turn Undead?!?!?! Why would an evil pc turn undead? I think a Blackguard should get "Control Undead" at level 3. Giving the Blackguard a chance to gain allies in battle.

I mean, the Blackguard get the reverse of the cure spells, why not the revers of turn undead? Or at least a "Turn Living" option?

What do you think?

Yeah,it would make really much more sense.Blackguard are evil charakters,so hoe could they turn undead?A paladin or cleric has the power of a god,but a Blackguard havn't it.The Blackguard have the power of demons, and undead are of demonic nature,so why couldn't he control them?

Undeads are demons? Never heared that before. I thought undeads were just... undeads.
But Sir Belisarius is right. An evil cleric should be able to Rebuke Undead. And an anti-paladin would be able to rebuke undeads, too, methinks.

Yeah, but undeads are evil, arn't they. And also demons are evil.So there's the evidence that undeads are demons ;) .
Imo dead can only be raised to undeads with the power of demons. So a Blackguard wich has a pact with them should be able to control them.

Undead are not related to demons.

According to the DMG, the Blackguard should get the Command Undead ability at third level.

That's what the book says...How about the game?

Imo dead can only be raised to undeads with the power of demons. So, if a priest of Cyric were to raise a skeleton, he would not actually be calling on his god, but on some demon? Strange.

Is there any info on the arcane archer?

Not yet.

Hopefully soon, though. I'm already planning a half-elven fighter/bard/arcane archer character for my guild's PW which goes live Friday! It would've been nice to have a little more information about the class before I planned a character around it.

I'm planning to advance like 1-Bard, 2-Fighter, 3-brd, 4-brd, 5-ftr, 6->10-brd, then only advance in of arcane archer levels. At level 5, I'll take weapon focus: longbow and weapon specialization: longbow.

As you might be able to tell, I'm a little excited about it. :D

Actually, http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/neverwinternightssou/preview_6026697-2.html has a bit of info on all of them.

I checked that "bit of info" and it's nothing that you can't get from checking out the prestige classes in the d20 rules that are posted online (e.g. SRD - Prestige Classes (http://home.earthlink.net/~teluial/OGF/srd/prestigeclasses.html) ). A little more detail about how they would be implemented in NWN would be nice. :nolike:

I'm fairly unfamiliar with the whole "prestige class" thing. How exactly do you create one? Can you select them from the beginning of your game, or do you become that class later on when you meet certain requirements? If so, how long does it usually take to make the transformation? Will they be available throughout the entire game, ie the original campaign (which I still have yet to beat)?

Thanks. I'm lost and silly.

A prestige class is the same as any other class, except there are certain requirements that you must meet before you can take a level in it (such as certain feats, attack bonus, race, etc.), and they don't count as a multiclass when determining XP penalties.

Ah. So it's basically a new class kit you "unlock," eh? Interesting.

It's pretty interesting to play a prestige class; it adds spice to the game. I actually play a lvl-4 fighter/ lvl-4 rogue in SoU and I'm about to decide wether I want to be a harper scout or a shadowdancer.

I have all the reqirements for a shadowdancer and for the harper scout I'm lacking the two feats alertness and iron will, but then, harper scout only has 5 levels, allowing me to add more (needed) fighter level, gaining more feats  On the other hand the shadowdancer has d8 hitpoints and cool abilities ... :spin: That much for the powergaming part.

Seriously, IMO the prestige classes, the two I tried out at least, are pretty promising and, when I tried them out a bit I liked both.

I have a level 6 Halfling Rogue, Soon to be an Assassin, but I just have to loose some Alignment points and become Evil.

Hmm. Just a thought. What about a Bard/Arcane Archer/Shadow Dancer? I'm envisioning a sneaky elf who pops up out of nowhere, fires several arrows into a target's backside, then vanishes when they turn around only to pop up in a different location. Rinse, repeat as needed.

Perhaps aim for an eventual Brd 8/AA 10/ SD 2.
