I just bought NWN Gold edition today and after I installed the game I restarted my computer and tryed to play the game. Well, when I click on PLAY it starts to load something then it waits a long time and finally tells me "unable to authenticate original disc within time limit." I really dont know what the heck Im supposed to do about that so I need help. I was thinking that maybe a no cd crack would do it but I cant find one.

Strictly speaking, we don't approve of no-CD cracks here (against our forum rules), but in cases such as this, I'll allow this thread. Many users have had problems because of various copy protection schemes in NWN and expansions, and for some, no-CD cracks are the only possible way to play the game. Sad but true. The morons at Atari who decide to put in copy protection that in the end screws only the legitimate buyers aren't doing themselves any favours.

Your best bet is trying to install & run the game from another CD drive, if you have one (the copy protection might go through there). You'd need a new no-CD crack with every new NWN patch, so it's not a practical long-term solution, if you inted to keep your game patched regularly.

Talking about no-cd cracks is against the rules...

But i have a hint... ya might try updating your game, as this is a known bug in some versions of NWN Gold.

In short:
1. Do not talk about no-cd cracks on these boards. (okie.... if Tal approves this, i don't mind. :p )
2. Try updating your game.

That actually happens to me all the time. What you need to do is reboot your computer. It was a main problem when I put on patch 1.32. I havent had that problem yet with 1.6x

1.60 has the problem... that's why it was nuked... 1.61 is free of it IIRC. :D

Sorry Tal I was just desperate to get this game going. When I update it says that I have the 1.32.7054 English version so hopefully updating will help.
