Howdy newbie here with a question. I'm going to be getting a new computer this Christmas (finally getting rid of this 6 year old piece of junk) and I'm going to be getting some new games.
I'm a fan of both Baldur's Gate games as well as Icewind Dale. I like the idea of making up my own games as well as downloading different game mods. I just want to know some of your opinions of NWN and which of the expansions are the best to get.

Get it. You'll like it alot (most likely) and there a ton of great mods/conversions for the game. It's of course different then the BG's and IWD's but it's a must-have IMO.

The singleplayer campaign is crap. The singleplayer campaign of the first expansion is mediocre. The singleplayer campaign of the second expansion is good.
The multiplayer is excellent, if you find a decent server. Get it for the multiplayer gaming or don't get it at all.
Edited for spelling

Get the all-in-one Platinum edition which is pretty cheap and worth the money.

Alright, thanks for the feedback. I guess it wont hurt to try it.
One last question though, I heard that there is a MOD based on Martins Song of Ice and Fire books, is it any good?

Haven't played many single player mods, but AMaster is 100% right. It's the type of game which you should buy for multiplayer. If you don't plan on playing it with others, it won't be too wonderful. But with multiplayer, it can make BGs look like a hack'n'slash feast.
