View Full Version : Marrok won't make my swords
Aorick Wed, 4th Jun '03, 4:20am Can anybody help me out here. I'm most of the way through chapter 1, I have a long sword +1, a diamond, a short sword +1, fairy dust, leather armour +1, a gargoyle skull, and Marrok keeps telling me "Nope, I can't do anything with these etc etc. There can only be two items on the forge at one time etc etc". I also have several tousand GP, so money shouldn't be a problem. Have I missed something or is this a bug in the game? If it is a bug, is there any way to fix it? Any thoughts welcome
Erebus Wed, 4th Jun '03, 4:42am You have to make the weapons and armor one at a time, and I think you need Marrock's book to find the right combinations for the items.
Aorick Wed, 4th Jun '03, 8:29am Thanks for reply Erebus,
I have Marroks book and have been puting the required items on in the required combinations, but still no good. Also when he looks through my inventory he says that I don't have the required items, despite having them all in my inventory.
Taluntain Wed, 4th Jun '03, 1:16pm Write down which items are you trying to combine into what.
Aorick Thu, 5th Jun '03, 12:50am I've tried the following combinations:
Diamond & Longsword+1 to make astral longsword
Fairydust & shortsword +1 to make feyduster shortsword
and I've tried both leather+1 and studded leather+1 with gargoyle skull to get leather whitebone armour. Each time Marrok has said no.
Taluntain Thu, 5th Jun '03, 9:55am That is curious, you're using the right items. Are you sure you don't have anything else but that in the forge when you're trying to do it? You can only make one item at a time, and you mustn't have anything else in the forge at that time.
Master of Nuhn Thu, 5th Jun '03, 12:31pm And er, hehe, be sure to place it on the FORGE. ;)
Watch out what items you create, though. If you are a level 4 character, you can't wear the Whitebone Armor (level 5), and you can't wield the Feyduster (6) and the Astral Blade (6) either.
Edit:
Also keep in mind that the Whitebone Armor is Heavy Armor and weighs 50.0 lbs. Not much suitable for a rogue, if you ask me.

Aorick Thu, 5th Jun '03, 4:01pm No there's nothing else on the forge. I think it may be a glitch in my game, as when I save the character and start another game he'll let me make them just fine. Maybe a flag's been set that should have been unset or something. Is not getting these items that much of a hindrance? And can I get them made later? I think I read somewhere that these items can be upgraded anyway. Cheers.
Rastor Thu, 5th Jun '03, 5:28pm You can get better versions of them later.
As far as upgrading, it's not the way you may be thinking. You can reforge them later, and get better versions, but not upgrade the actual items themselves.
Sir Ice Mon, 9th Jun '03, 8:31am Also I do not think it is mandatory to have Maroks book.
He made my Harbringer of Kin +1 before he gave me his book of recipies.
Later in the game you will need the book that have the recipies.
Before ending Chapter get Marrok to do all the items you can, because you won't get to make magic items for quite some time.
