View Full Version : [SoU] Try and catch the wind...
Tressym Sun, 12th Feb '06, 5:40pm The wise wind heals itself persistantly, so it's quite undefeatable. Unlike in most other cases, whomever wrote "impossible" in its CR was NOT kidding this time. I realize i'm supposed to lead it to some sort of a trap, but the only things inside my tale are the house through which you leave it, the ship on which you "arrive", and the ruined little house. I thought that was it, but making the wind stand on the empty foundation had no result. I figured it could eb the ship, but i can't lure aboard, and whereas my healing ends sooner or later, its does not. So how do i catch it?
I'm using the "stormy shore" tale option, btw. It was an "[insight]" option, so i took it, as having an into of 10 and even that after raising it once uppon levelup doesnt warrant me many of these.
Chimera Sun, 12th Feb '06, 5:56pm You can get the wizard and the knight to help you. If you have the ink and quill, rewrite their tales (click on the book again) and then ask them for help.
Harbourboy Sun, 12th Feb '06, 8:39pm Yeah, I don't think I have ever taken on the wise wind by myself. It does seem to be pretty easy if those two help you though. This is one of my favourite parts of SoU. I think the whole 'write-a-book' thing is really innovative and fun.
Tressym Sun, 12th Feb '06, 11:56pm By the wizard i can only assume you mean Karsus {will save against canon contradiction - success, urge to rant resisted}, but what knight are we talking about?
Ilmater's Suffering Mon, 13th Feb '06, 5:05am I beat the Wise Wind the first time through with no help other then from Dorna (didn't know I could rewrite the ending). For some reason the Wise Wind stopped teleporting and Dorna and myself, with potions of clarity for that Storm of Vengence pounded it into oblivion, we both had +2 weapons.
Anyway, the use of heal is random, sometimes the things an idiot and when it's near death will decide it'd rather try and kill you rather then heal itself, that almost always proves fatal for the Wise Wind (if you really desire to exploit this, use quick save, reload every time he heals, often he'll replace the heal spell with an offensive spell).
Chimera Mon, 13th Feb '06, 9:30am The predictable 'unhappy lovers' tale can be rewritten into a predictable 'knight saves the damsel in distress tale', with William as the knight in disguise. Funnily enough he usually got killed by the Wise Wind in my games - so much for the happy ending :D
Tressym Mon, 13th Feb '06, 5:12pm Ah, thancue all, it worked! I got both Karsus and Sir Rei to help me, and eventually the Wise Wind seemed to have ran out of spells or something. And yeah, the knight dies, but i was all like "Whatever dude, it's not like you even existed in the first place - you were just a character from a novel." :=P Besides, Karsus was easier to heal for some reason; aspecially when it ran out of spells {about the same time as the Wise Wind did} and started swinging at it with his staff.
So, umm, somebody can help me with the thread just below this one? :=}
