Taluntain Mon, 20th Nov '00, 7:54pm Here, straight from the FAQ at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/NWN/nwnfaq.htm 7.01 - What kind of computer will I need to play Neverwinter Nights? Our minimum system specifications will likely be a Pentium Pro 200 or Power PC of greater than 200 mhz, with a Riva TNT or Voodoo2 class 3D card and 32 MB of ram. An internet or LAN connection will, of course, be required for those wishing to play multiplayer games. A 56K modem should allow any such computer to support at least 8 players. A cable modem will be able to support significantly more. We are currently unsure of maximum numbers, but we are aiming for a maximum of approximately 64 players on most home-based servers. With dedicated and more powerful systems, the maximum number of players on the server could increase even further. But I hope you don't take that crap above seriously. BG II clogs my p2 400 with 128 MB or RAM often, so a game released a year after (and totally 3D to boot!) will certainly need at least a 600 MHz processor and 128 MB or RAM to be actually playable. (That is, enjoyable, not like watching moving pictures). Will it have monthly fees like everquest or it will be completly free??? Sylvus Moonbow Wed, 29th Nov '00, 4:08pm It will be free because it is the public who will provide these online worlds, although there are currently worlds that are being supported by Bioware (sorry, gotta plug www.alandfaraway.net (http://www.alandfaraway.net) while others will be just modules or dungeons run by people like you or me. I have 160 ram so it's not that, it's just the whole modem aspect. With a game as great looking as NWN, (and probably quite large) do you really think a 56k is going to be sufficient? Craal Lithelord Thu, 7th Dec '00, 8:57am Hey, did u say 600 mhz? c'mon, u should get Nwn running good with p2 350 128 ram and a TNT 2 - Geforce or smthng. Most of it depends on the 3D-Card, anyone know if the 3d engine supports OpenGL or is it D3D? or both.... But i can agree that a 200 p pro 32 mb ram voodoo 2 sounds a little strange... That should clue you in how seriously you can take the stuff from the faq. It hasn't been updated in a year. I bet when they put the new one up in January that minimum specs will be at least p300 or 350 and a 3d card with 32 megs of ram. |
