Have any of you read Tolkiens The Lord of the Rings???
If so, then after NWN hits the stores would you then be interrested in making The Fellowship of the Ring as a module for NWN???
That is of course only if it will be legally to actually copy the story without buying the rights to do so...
Anyone interrested in this please click here (Rathan_net@hotmail.com) to mail me.
People not interrested in participating in this please do NOT mail me, unless you have some ideas/positive comments on this.

I was thinking of making a module from one of his short stories.
I think LOTR has too rigid a story line, and how would you do the big battles unless you are going to concentrate on just Frodo and Sam. But it could be cool if done properly, so go for it....
And the legal thing is not to worry about as long as you wont be making any money off it. I mean how would they stop a world of people making modules on home computers, they would have to ban the game....

I rather remnake an adventure of the first or second era. It is impossible to make the whole Lord of the Rings story for it's doo detailed and large... Anothre problem is that there is no goal in FoTR so what should your character have to reach in the game? The only things I can imagine is to reach Rivendel en Lorien... that would be a pretty dull RPG then....
I suppose there is still a limit on the number of henchmen in your party? That would be a pity, else it would be possible I think to create an adventure based on "The Hobbit" with one halfling, 12 dwarves, temporary one mage or fighter mage.... and as final goal to kill a dragon.

I think it would be cool to play in the LOTR realm, but the problem would be the story line.
So what you could do is make the person start as a ringwraith hunting for the ring
Maybe make the person play as a foot soldier of gondor, that would be cool
Or maybe as a rider or Rohan
And can't forget a treeant(sp?)

I was thinking of seeing Middle Earth as a persistant world ... similar to the ALFA project. Set the time to just before the Hobbit, and let people interact. You could set up almost any sort of encounter, just like you could in Forgotten Realms.

I think that what Mathetais said is the best solution. Just construct the Middle Earth. I am a great fan of Tolkien's books but LotR's story is toooo linear to be transformed in an RPG. And a question:
How the hell are you going to make Gandalf?
I mean this guy is by far more powerful than you can even make him?
It's something like a God-like creature (the Barlong in Moria knows that good

Yeah... you can also go for the time after Lord of the Rings... make Aragorn king and let him give you orders :)
You can also with a party of dwarves and one halfling thief start at the beginning of The Hobbit... just change the story a bit so you can have as goal to kill Smaug.... Or what about the story of Luthien and Beren.... with as goal to retrieve a silmaril from Morgoth..... so they can wed... would be pretty romantic :)
