View Full Version : So you want to be a guild leader?

As you know already (those who don't probably needn't read further), Erran stepped down as the head of AORTA, our NWN guild in ALFA. ( More info about the guild can be found at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/NWN/aorta.htm )

Now since I've got way too much stuff to deal with as it is, I'm looking for a new guild leader. As you can imagine, this is not something anybody could apply for, because very few people are actually capable and able of doing it.

What I'm looking for in someone who would assume this responsibility is primarily independence. This at one hand is a good thing (it allows creative leaders a lot of freedom) and a bad thing at the other (I will be around, but not to guide you through everything). Another essential feat of the new guild leader is keeping on top of happenings in and around the other guilds & ALFA. (Having to be a member goes without saying I hope.)
I also do not want people who would give up or become uninterested before the game is even released. It could be many months before we actually get to play it, so I need someone prepared to wait till then.

I am not emotionally attached to anything that is currently written on the AORTA page above, except that I would like to keep the guild non-evil and have it bear the same name. The rest is totally up to the new guild leader. You can start from scratch and rebuild the whole thing if you wish. You can either use the same page layout as is on the rest of SP, or, if you can build decent web pages yourself, make a totally new look for the guild part of the site. This would actually be preferable since it would mean less work for me, the webmaster.

Any future head of AORTA has ideal conditions to set up a recognizable guild here at SP. You will get a lot of exposure, your own chatroom for the guild, and your own forum. (All of this already exists.) In other words, the foundations are solid, what we need now is someone to make the rest of it happen. Creativity, ideas, vision... You will need it all if you are to fill this position.

We already have a full list of members, but since some of them have applied some time ago and are either not interested or not active anymore, the new guild master would have to recheck and eliminate those who are not. Another thing to keep in mind is that this is a guild for SP, not for you (the leader) and your friends (if they are not from SP). Guild size on AORTA is restrictive as it is, so I expect our guild to consist mostly of the regulars I see around here on the boards. (Those who will play NWN and are in ALFA, of course.)

If you feel that you have what it takes, ICQ me at 1508832 and tell me why do you think you would be suitable for the position.

And hence the reason he has turned down the position...

At any rate, if you find yourself leaderless, which you really have been all along- you may turn your faction over to me.

I will see that you all remain ...occupied.

Haven't you got your own faction to run, or have you given up hope of finding anyone to join you?

We are actually full, fool.

Now I can set my sights on higher and loftier things.

Or, I can focus on fodder stealing...
heh

Good luck with your plans of global domination. You'll need it. :p

Since Skullport died a death, there has been an influx of pretty smart RP'ers from there. Talk to some of the old hands, they might want the job.

Bain, try to get a life before the game comes out, otherwise half of ALFA will be trying to grind you under foot. In addition, Erran was a 'real' leader if you didn't notice. But then again your view is kind of limited from beneath your rock. :D

As for a new leader for AORTA - Tal who is on the list. Since we took it off the page I'm not sure who is in the guild. I'd like to know who to through my support behind. I don't have time myself to due the job proud but I'd be willing to advise and play an strong active role once ALFA hits the streets.

I won't give out any names until they're all rechecked. There'll probably be a few openings when we clean house.

If that's the case I would be happy if someone even slightly in charge would be so kind to put me on the waiting list ;)

If we want to keep things on the private side we should list the name in the AORTA forum. Tal, will you be contacting folks or do you need a hand with that?

Actually Relic was supposed to be taking over the guild duties. He hasn't been in contact with me since he mailed me last though. If he doesn't ICQ me by the end of the week I'll appoint someone else.

Greetings, after talking some with Taluntain, I have applied for this position, and been accepted. Now comes the fun part. After wandering through many of the boards of the various factions, as well as the boards of ALFA itself, it appears that the forces of evil are becoming more and more bold (for example, Bain and his little disillusioned lackeys, er princes). As we get closer and closer to the actual release of NWN (at least one can hope, neh?), we will need to solidify our plans and strategies. I've seen many of you on these boards, and am glad to have the chance to work with you. And yes, there will be needs and assignments that those with available time can do. I will be sending out emails to all the members within a week, and see how we stand in relation to moving on with the faction. Any questions can be sent to me at truerelic@yahoo.com
