It says that clerics don't have to memrize basic healing spells in advance, but that doesn't seem to work, because I dragged it from the cleric SB, and I couldn't cast it

You have to memorize one, but that's it. If you've memorized one, you can use that one spell slot and all the other slots at that level for the healing spell, even if you've memorized other spells there.

Strange, it works perfectly for me. You don't have to have any memorised but you have to have spells left to cast for that particular level since you sacrifice an existing memorisation.

edit: I believe you have to cast it from the quickbar. Drag a healing spell from the known spell list to your quickbar.

Yup! IIRC, You have to drag a healingspell to your quickbar and as long as you have spells memorized you can heal by spontaneous (sp) cast.
When you use Spont-Cast, you will use up a memorised spell from a certain side of the spellslots. I cant remember which side, though.
Maybe you should remember this when memorising your spells. If, for example, a memorized spell is used from the right side, then put your favourite spells at the left, so you will keep them when casting a healingspell spontaneous.
(Really!?)

I wouldnt know i never bothered to cast healing spells ;) :p
Potions are in such abundance that you realy dont need to waste a spell slot to memorize or cast it. ;)

That's absolutely true!
I'm playing a cleric and never casted a Spontaneous Healing Spell after I got some potions.
Only reason I play as a cleric is to whack undeads and cast some nice spells while wearing platemail.
