View Full Version : Grande Finale- Showdown with Morag
ssoundman Mon, 6th Feb '06, 5:52am All right, how did you defeat Morag and her motley-looking crew? I'm stuck with my Ranger(17) and Bard henchman. I neglected to stock up on more than a half-dozen of each potion before the last segment, and the Stone of Recall doesn't work from the Source Stone Inner Sanctum. I have the Sword of the Gladiator and Blesing of the Daystar sword, have Shield of the Dragon Slayer and Dragon Slippers. My animal companion is gone, as I'm in need of rest in order to conjur him back, and I cannot rest at this time. Help!
Yoshimo's Heart Mon, 6th Feb '06, 4:49pm all right there are places to sleep in the stone if you look for an out of the way area. Personally try to get rid of the two bouncers in with morag first by getting them away from her. This will keep her from doing stuff to you and you can pound them to death. Next destroy the gargoyle statues that are near to morag. On the ones behind the barrier you must use the attack type indicated and once it is destroyed morag is vulnerable to to that attack option. So find the slahing gargoyle and destroy it and morag will be vulnerable to your weapons.
Tressym Mon, 6th Feb '06, 5:20pm Correction: there's only one gargoyle.
After you defeat the bouners privately, put on the amulet Asheera gave you, and start bashing the statue. Once it is destroied, the blade barier behind it will disappear in a second or two, and you get acess to the priests. The priests are so deep in meditation, that they won't respond if you shove the Tarrasque down theyr throats, repeatedly, much less if you just kill them.
Since both of your weapons are slashing, start with the Protector Against the Sword. Once he's dead, both Morag herself and the Protector against hte Lessers are vulnurable to slashing damage.
Now kill the Protector against the Lessers. I think it makes Morag vulnurable to Acid {from the Gladiator's sword}, as it made her vulnurable tot eh sonic damage from my Ravager.
Now give Queen Morag the royal treatement she deserves. She'll hardly be able to touch you as you turn her into a snakeskin purse.
PS:
What's the Blessing of the Daystar sword? Just curious.
ssoundman Tue, 7th Feb '06, 2:45am Thanks, guys. My level is too low to be able to wear Asheera's amulet. I guess I'll have to revert to the Amulet of Protection +5.
I don't remember where I got the Blessing of the Daystar longsword, but here are some of it's stats: Base Damage 1d8, Base Critical Threat 19-20/x2, Damage Bonus vs Evil 1d6 Damage Fire, Enhancement Bonus vs Undead +5, Enhancement Bonus +3.
Tressym Tue, 7th Feb '06, 3:21am Cool, sounds like something the clergy of Lathander would posess {not that any lathanderites are present in NWN, thank Selune}.
Asheera's amulet has a minimum level requirement? Since when? I was Rngr 7/Srcr 1/AA 8 during the battle with her, which summs for 16 - thus lower than you - and i wore the amulet.
ssoundman Tue, 7th Feb '06, 6:14am I wasn't allowed to wear it; the info on it said the min level was 18 or 19, I think.
Yoshimo's Heart Tue, 7th Feb '06, 4:18pm you must have none of the expansions on as the original NWN had a min level to use them.
Oh woops on there being only one gargoyle maby I should look into the game before writing oh well I was good except there were priests instead close but no cigar.
ssoundman Thu, 9th Feb '06, 2:36am Ok, thanks folks- mission accomplished. (I wasn't allowed to sleep anywhere either, but fortunately had almost a dozen Heal potions that I had never used. What a life-saver, literally!)
Meatdog Fri, 10th Feb '06, 12:12pm You can actually just turn on or off the item level restrictions in the options. Turning them off makes you free to use any item at any level. The difference between the original game without expansions and with expansions is the default value of this setting. But you can still turn the option on, iirc, even with the expansions installed, but you must be really deranged or desperate for a challenge to do so.
ssoundman Sat, 11th Feb '06, 6:43am Ok, help the new guy out, please- what does iirc mean?
Taluntain Sat, 11th Feb '06, 2:58pm Reading your Welcome PM or the FAQ helps: http://www.sorcerers.net/ubb/acronyms.htm
ssoundman Sat, 11th Feb '06, 7:57pm Thanks. I've read the Welcome PM but I must have missed seeing the link to the acronyms. It's definately there, though.
Hang on while I get a towel to wipe this egg from my face... :o
