Does anone know if NWN will allow you to have a team of characters as in most other interplay rpgs or are single player games going to be a Diablo affair where you can only pick up computer controlled characters.
The NWN site says they are unsure at the minute but that was posted quite a while ago.
The screen shots for the game all show 1 single character Soulbringer style but the game could be done Darkstone style where one charcter leads and the other is computer controlled.
This may look like a minor point to any Americans but a lot of us do have to pay for our internet access and internet multiplayer just is not possible.(Not sure about Canada internet charges)
Hence multiplayer only RPGs don't sell to well in the UK/Europe.

Well I started copy/pasting stuff here from the FAQ but since there's so much of it you might as well read it whole yourself at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/NWN/nwnfaq.htm

I think you'll find the answers to all your questions there.

Thanks for the reply Taluntain.

I have read this at the official NWN site and the line that got me was :

3.02 - Will I be controlling an individual character or an entire party?
The issue of assuming control over multiple characters in a single-player game is still under discussion.

So they haven't answered my question yet.

Oh...

Well my guess is one character only. Because in all the screenshots we've seen, and in the interface layout it's pretty obvious it's only designed to work for one character.
And even if there was a party mode, it'd probably only work for the offline games.

I mean, with the idea that NWN is basically an online game with the option to play it offline in mind you can see that controlling an entire party in MP would be pretty much impossible since we know that everyone logs onto the NWN servers on an individual basis. At least that's my understanding of it. I'm in touch with all the happening surrounding NWN, but then again I'm not one of the experts that are tracking this single game all the time. If anyone here is, then you're more than welcome to submit your insight regarding this matter...

Syl? ;)

Thanks again for the reply Taluntain.
It's nice to know someones reading my posts.
We'll just have to wait and hope they release more details closer to the time.
The single player game is only 100 hours so the game isn't really being sold as a single player game (as you say).
It will definitely revolutionise the whole rpg game (EverQuest and co were alright but not great), the chance to set up a whole 3D M.U.D. really appeals to a lot of people but we shall just have to wait and see how it is taken up by the bedroom programmers.

Well I have found the answer to my question :

13. Will Neverwinter Nights have a single-player mode?
Yes, Neverwinter Nights has a single-player mode consisting of the same game as the online version. The only difference is that you play as a party of one. If you have an internet or LAN connection, you can even have a live DM moderate your single-player game.

Got this from http://www.bioware.com/nwn/NWN_faq.html
