I've been trying to determine from playing the answer to this question but haven't been able to do so. Do helmets protect against critical hits in NWN? Their description doesn't indicate that they do but I read a post elsewhere that they do and I'm curious whether that is correct or whether they were confusing NWN with the BG series?
TIA.

No, afaik helmets do not protect against critical hits. My sweet cleric :D wears a nice helmet and is still beeing hit critical sometimes.
By the way I hate helmets in Nwn, they just look so stupid !

They do look stupid, aye?
I never wear helmets and my little brother thinks I'm crazy because I don't. But as far as I know they don't protect against criticals.

They don't. Helmet is considered a piece of the armour so it doesn't grant any additional bonuses if you have it on or off. So it only makes sense to use a helmet which has some special listed bonuses, but you needn't bother with a plain one because it doesn't change anything apart from the look of your head in the game.

Yes indeed. Helmets will only give you protection if they are designed that way. You can create a helmet that gives immunity to criticals using the toolset, but as IIRC it requires a level 21 character to use.

Well, very good then. Thank you all, now my poor sorcerer and druid can feel more comfortable with their fashion choice of not putting on a helmet - particularly one with a mere +1 concentration. Time will tell if they find a nice one and are forced with a tough decision.

I particularly like the Watchman's Helm. It gives the wearer +8 to Spot, Listen & Search. It helps to know before you step in a trap/ambush. ;) Not to mention helping to keep the grubby theives mitts outta your pockets.
