View Full Version : Best multiclass
Dragu&Barud Thu, 12th Jun '03, 4:45pm Ranger(10)Monk(1)Rogue(9)Great ranged or melee based character with the robe of the Darkmoon he will smash everyone. The big sneak attack will smash and if he fights with arrows you can use improved power attack without big TOHIT penalty if your dexterity is high.Cool huh?!
Blackthorne TA Thu, 12th Jun '03, 5:29pm Nice 20% XP penalty too.
BigStick Thu, 12th Jun '03, 7:39pm I don't think you can use (improved) power attack with a ranged weapon. You shouldn't be able to anyway, it makes very little sense. What's the point of the 1 level of monk? The WIS bonus to AC? The rogue can spend some of his skill points in Use Magic Device and should be able to wear the Robes of the Darkmoon.

Khelben Sun, 15th Jun '03, 7:12pm AFAIK , you can't get WIS bonuses to AC if you wear an armor.
Rastor Mon, 16th Jun '03, 3:58pm That's a 20th level character, of course it's going to be powerful.
BTA, if that was a halfling, there wouldn't necessarily be an xp penalty. Start out as either the ranger or rogue, then take the other. Since rogue is a favored class, there's no penalty. Once you level up from 19th, take the monk.
Dragu&Barud Mon, 16th Jun '03, 5:45pm If you wear Robes of Dark moon you get WIS AC or at least my game is so I don`tr know if that`s patched. But this multi class is extremely powerful since he gets many attacks(8) and he can do pretty good damage from afar.Ranger`s Lv2 spell Cat`s Grace makes him really usefull and his companions can confuse enemies(I use Spider he can poison and enemies who fights me also get poisoned from it and who fights Spider get sneaked by my character). For me this multiclass is the best Melee/Ranged character for Duel.
Rotku Tue, 17th Jun '03, 9:38am Okay, is this just boasting about your character or are you asking what the best multiclass is? If you are asking what the best multiclass is the only thing I can say is that there isn't a "best" multiclass. First of all what do you mean by "best"? and in whos' opinon?
Vamp FlashRam Sat, 5th Jul '03, 6:55pm if you are simply talking finished powergame classes, the strongest classes are simple.
1) the halfling 19wizard/1monk (go ahead, make one you whore)
2) Half orc 18barb/1fighter/1bard(you know you wanna)
3) Cleric (does it really matter?)
RangerFox Mon, 21st Jul '03, 9:31am For pure melee power I don't think there's anything better than a Fighter 16/Rogue 3/Barbarian 1 that dual wields two medium sized weapons.
Fighter gives all the feats and HP you need.
Barbarian gives increased walking speed and rages.
Rogue gives extra dodging skills Evasion and Uncanny Dodge for free, extra damage with level 2 Sneak Attack, and Use Magic Items to use scrolls to buff up defenses with spells and to use some of those great wands and special items.
Vermillion Thu, 24th Jul '03, 9:15pm Rogue 14/Fighter 6 or rogue 13/fighter 6/ranger 1 is very fun too. For some reason these combinations really attract me when I feel my char is being used by the monsters towipe the floor. Then Ol' Faithful comes out my Vault and I feel better :) .
Shura Sat, 26th Jul '03, 9:43am I was thinking of a Fighter 17/Monk 3 build for the free cleave, still mind, increased movement speed, slightly enhanced saving throws and evasion feats for an unarmored, dex based dual-wielding fighter.
Stunning fist comes in handy sometimes too and the access to hide, move silently and tumble skills allows my character to move through enemy ranks with impunity combined with the dodge and mobility feats.
Of course, I've had to compromise my CON and AC but I've found at mid-levels (7-8) that with Expertise/Improved Expertise my character can hold his own against the most vicious warrior foes. He is quite the man against wizards/sorcs too, with a high REF save, moderately good WILL save combined with Iron Will and Still Mind, the awesome FORT save every fighter has and the evasion feat which renders most fireballs/lightning bolts useless.
The only problem I've had is with ranged attackers. Expertise does not help against missile weapons and deflect arrows more or less sucks.
What do you guys think of such a character?
PS: Is there a mod that make it so that monk robes don't look so utterly silly?
