...inventory.
Really, there are some items whose point i can't seem to figure out. For now, i'll only ask about those i found in chapter 2, but didn't loose when the chapter ended. I have several i found in chapter 3, but since i haven't finished it yet, there's a chance i'll find theyr use in the future.

1: Corpse Hand.
I found it on a corpse in the Creator ruins underneath the troll warrens. Although i don't remember dropping ever it, it also appeared in the divination pool, so it must have some significance, right?

2: Greate Axe
Yepp, not just "greataxe", but "Great Axe", complete with the 0-price common to quest items. I took it from the reamins of that treacherous scumball, Darktongue Breakbone, who attacked me with two of his guards for no coherent reason beside sheer rivalry, and proved to be one of the toughest encounters in the game so far {thank Selune for potions of speed and the Staff of Power}. This guy never made sence to me, but his damn axe seems to make even less sence.

3: Fire Opals
Obviously valuable, according to theyr description, but with a 0-price, and use the same picture as Smuglers' Coin in the first chapter. I found one in chapter 2, and 2 more in chapter 3, but am yet to see any use to them.

4: Kurth's head
The reserved luskan courtesan wanted both High Captains dead, so i brought her both heads. She took neither, but the other HC's head disappeared after the chapter ended. Kurth's head remained in my inventory.

5: Troll Chieftain's head
I dropped it off at some point, but i'm just curious. Its descripton says that other archeologist {not Jax, forgot the name} wants the head to be left at his treshold, for a reward. You can't talk to that guy, however, since he's busy with the training dummy and shows as unavailible, not responding whrn you try to talk to him. So i tried putting the head in the containers inside his room, outside it but within the archeologists' barracks, and even outside the barracks altogether, as well as at each of his tresholds. Nothing happens, the guy is still unavailible.

Please tell me about any or all of these. I'd also apreciate my last question on the henchmen thread answered, and the last one at the trap thread, but that's beside the point.

1. Corpse hand is related to Grimnaw's henchman quest...so if you haven't done any of his quest just drop it along the way

2. Same as above...but this one is related to Daelan Redtiger...

3. nothing special about it...

4. You either take Kurth's head to Baram or take Baram's head to Kurth to fulfill your deal with either of them. If you don't like evil captains...just kill them both and find other way to the tower (forgot its name). about head...since you killed both of them...throw it away

5. go into the barrack...then there will be a guy hitting a dummy. calm him down (AFAIK you just need to wait beside him) and talk to him...he will talk about troll chieftain...so take troll chieftain's head to him.

The anger-management archeologist never seemed to calm down, and i waited quite a long time. Could that be a bug or something?

As for Fire Opals - if there's nothing special about them, then what's theyr purpose? You can't sell them, so surely there's some other point to them...

Last time I did OC...he calmed down soon after I tried to talk to him...so I'm not sure why it's not working for you.

for fire opal...it might have something to do with a certain quest...but AFAIK there is no special usage. (not even upgrading your weapon or making a special item)

Thancue all for the answers. Here's the next portion:

1: Child's top, and
2: Rags
Both were found in the Old Ones' temple, in different places, though i don't remember whether it was in the past or the present. They're not unsellable {1gp each}, but are unique, so obviously there's some qust-related use to them, right? They also appear {both in the same container!} at the begining of SoU. Does that mean they have one use in the OC and another in the expansion?

3: Green spores {SoU}
Found in eastside Hilltop, inside the farmhouse where the invading kobolds kept the old halfling's tarot cards. Am i supposed to inflict someone with the desease from them? Saved against it, myself, but what was i supposed to do with them afterwards?

4: Dragon egg {SoU}
Other than selling it to either the thayvian or the hermit, was it good for anything else?

The anger-impaired archaeologist is a bug - sometimes I can get him to talk to me, and sometimes I can't. It's not a massive amount of xp at any rate, so...

5: Ancient Sword
Found it in the eaerlanni crypt. Shows all the symptoms of being a quest item, but no one asked for it. What or who is it for?

I'd just like to say that for quoting a Black Eyed Peas song, even in jest, you should be beaten with reeds.

Blegh.

The spores can be used in crafting something (a spore trap?)

The egg is purely for the weird guy in the hut.

The ancient sword is to give back to the restless spirit in the other room. This quest almost always takes me to Level 4, which is an indication that the game levels up in the same way each time.

Thancue! So what are the child's top and the rags for?

DR: as opposed to a dwarven alchemist making Nelly references, right? :=P

Regarding Lenton (yeah, that's the name of the "anger-impaired" archaeologist), then that's a bug related to the later version of the game. In order to talk to him simply just turn DebugMode on and type: "dm_setfactiondefender"; you will enter target mode, so click on him. Turn Debug off, and after a short period of time, he will stop fighting and you can talk to him. You may have to do this once more when you talk to him the second time. Just to let you guys know ;) .

The spores, when combined with a quartz chrystal in Drogan's machine, create a ring of disease immunity. The dragon's egg can be sold to either the hermit merchant or the red wizard of thay. You used to be able to sell the baby to the red wizard of thay as a slave, but Bioware cut that content.

Some items can be used later with a magic bag and wand you buy from the merchant in chapter 2.

Many of the other items, e.g. child's top, fish, garlic are just there for decoration. I recall Bioware saying it was their reaction to all the complaints they got from players of the OC wondering why they were finding katanas and double axes in crates and barrels in taverns and inns. Garlic and fish in a crate in a tavern? Simply a cook's ingredients.

As for fire Opals i remember that i could not sell them either in the first two chapters, but i was able to sell the in the last two.
So keep them i believe you will find them valuable later on ;)

Fish and garlic are usable with the bag too, if i'm not mistaken. The rags and aspecially the child's top still make no sence, though. They are both a singular item, found only once, in one place in the OC and in one place in SoU.

6: Pearl of Bashing
I'm not sure where i found it, but tis description speaks of mistical uses. What kind of mystical uses?

I think the pearl of bashing can be used on the bridge to the beholder caves to generate a geeky Easter egg about "perl' scripts.
