I think that the clerics are a disadvanteged class. There is not even a prestige class for clerics.

What do you think about that?

I think clerics are vastly powerful for a game like NWN (I assume SoU is the same kinda game) with a lot more enemies to fight than a normal d&d game.

The mixed fighter and spell power is an awesome combo already, and I'd say it's more like all the other classes that are underpowered in consideration.

I'd whine about lack of mage prestige classes, but that's only for the fun of it, not the balance.

I would say that clerics is actually extremely powerful in NWN, even as low levels.

I often play a cleric on RP servers with the domains: Healing and Air.
Not many choose to be a cleric so you can earn some money healing people. And when you're level 3 you get call lightning with the air domain which is very powerful.

Also there are some nice low level spells. Sound blast for example. It stuns and damages a group of opponents and then you can summon some creatures to help. I haven't checked them out in SoU yet but I think they're getting cooler.

I haven't SoU till now, but in the normal NWN I think clerics are a little overpowered !
My cleric has got the domains air and magic, wich give her magic armor, stoneskin and this one very strong lightning on grade 6. With this lightning spell the cleric has got a perfect attack spell and the other spells combinated with strenght of one, make her a very strong fighter. My cleric kills everything way too easy !

Animal domain is a good one to ... helps at lower levels especially.

Question on the "heal" domain. It says "empowers" heal spells. Empower spell feat say it causes a 50% increase in spell potency.

So would a fist level cure light wounds heal (1d8+1)*2???

I don't know if it's true, but if you do indeed get a 50% increase, you would get (1d8+1)*1.5... What you put is a 100% increase.

I believe that just means all healing spells heal for the maximum amount. If your server plays on easy difficulty, then healing spells will already do this, so the healing domain isn't worthwhile. If you play on harder difficulty servers, then it's pretty good. From what I've seen with others, magic and trickery are the best domain combos. Air is nice as well though.

empower is 50% extra

maximize will max (duh, dont know how else to descripte it though) the available dice thrown d8 = 8 etc. :)

Though they're certainly not maximized in my version...

So an empowered, maximized spell of cure light wounds would heal (8+1)*1.5= 13.5 points of damage? Nice!

well yeah, though maximizing a spell cost a spell slot 3 levels higher

so instead you could have an empowered cure critical wounds which heals... a lot lot more
