Right. Love doesn't exist. Atleast the forever love thing doesn't. All else is just infatuation, LOL.At the very present moment, I'm thankful for the infatuation. Quite healthier than believing in Harlequin stuff, isn't it? Wonder what she thinks, though. Must ask her some day. Damn she's so nice, and kind, and pretty etc, if only I weren't empty. Perhaps I'd even love her.

Don't take me too seriously, though. There was a promo on Czech Pilsner and they were also giving free Sherry to every order. I, however, succeeded in frying five eggs with ham and onion without cutting or burning myself, so I pass as sober, but one could argue if I'm truly and fully credible at this very point in time. Most probably that's a special feature of Knight of Everfull Chalice (there are only two and only one is a warrior) So hungry... I hardly ever feel hungry. After those five eggs, I feel like eating those two sausages too. Fortunately, there's still some onion. Sausage fried shouldn't go without onion, don't you think? I still refuse to drink milk, though. I don't like milk. Perhaps with cocoa, but I don't feel like drinking cocoa. Maybe a mocca, but then it's midnight, so I shouldn't really drink coffee. I think I'll stick with sausage and tea with lemon. Where's Sorvo when you need him? :(

@Eze (and Daephon): I live with my watch on. See I'm obsessed with time. When I was really little (like two or three) I used to sit there and watch the digital clock in my Mom's room. No like seriously I did. That's probably like my earliest memories... lying there at night bored out of my mind watching that clock. I used to find it fascinating how the numbers would change and yeah. . . don't ask. Anyways I always need to know what time it is. . . I wake up in the middle of the night, check my watch. Wake up in the morning -- check my watch, finish taking a shower -- check my watch... And I used to walk to school so at certain intervals I'd check my watch see if I was making a good pace, if my SS class was dragging slowly, I'd check my watch. . . My life somewhat revolves around what time it is. I think the only reason I ever had any math skills was because I like to know how far away I am timewise from something. As I said, I'm obsessed with time. lol if you see my AIM subprofile it's got like 9 countdowns going constantly. This is because I always seem to be in anticipation of something happening. I love time.

I also love my new watch band. I was going to get a new watch but they didn't have this style and it would have taken another month to memorize how to perfectly program my watch (whereas I know this one well... like the back of my hand. hehehehe) so I just got a new band and decided I can see through the scratches. On that note, I live with my watch. I never ever ever take it off. Color guard, watch on. Swimming, watch on. Sleeping, watch on. I love waterproof. In fact I can go scuba diving up to 100 meters with this watch on before it breaks. How great is that? I love my watch. And no, I will never not have my watch because now I have this lovely pale band of skin where my watch is because I wear it on the beach where most of my tanning occurs. :p I love my watch

No nightmare for me this night. Freaking peaceful sleep. I'm only given such sleep when bad times approach in quick pace. Shortly ago I received an ambiguous message that is driving me insane - it may be the best news or the worst, there's nothing in the middle. I had to put all emotions aside, same to feelings etc, and load myself with coffee etc and concentrate on my brains for daily operation. I can go like this for a few days, perhaps even up to twenty if I increase coffee intake, get some possibly unimportant and irrelevant distraction... so long as focus of mind isn't required. Bad, bad. I've only had three such 'marathons' so far, and I know how they end. Everything would be good. Even a language course, or maybe a strategy game. Preferably mediaeval-style fencing, but there are no volunteers. Bad, bad times are coming.

In real life, where I am, there's only one: myself. At least a ranking one. Heh, this will surely require some tricks you don't give away to passers-by and don't teach to rookies  I guess I'll end up voice-training quite soon, again. Where was that ancient Greek manual... some Latin poetry, perhaps, too. Hmm... should stop drinking milk or cream. It must be clean and must not falter. Nothing can be done about pale looks so everyone will notice, but I can live with that. Hmm... maybe if I keep around the right people and ignore the rest... Perhaps. Wonder what my condition will be at the upcoming big law studies party/ball, however you name it. Seen worse, but I can't afford tarnishing my legend by refusing a drink.

I don't know if I could call my dreams (two cuz I woke up once before going back to sleep or not) I watched Inuyasha last night (still haven't missed a single episode since they started showing it on Cartoon Network :D -- even when at my grandparents) and I think that affected my dreams because there was definitely something about Miroku in it... That and a beach. Oh and at the same time I was thinking about how I don't want to go to Homecoming this year (even though it's like required of color guard) so in my dream there was this semi-formal dance going on and I was on the outside watching them in jeans, a tshirt, and a discman, and then as I was quite content to watch some younger boys jumped a fence and were hugging me all like, "We're so glad you could come!!" and then pulled me into the dance itself where all my closer friends seemed to see me as something close to invisible. Oh and then later on there was this Carribbean - Zorro thing. That was weird. Yeah so too many fictional characters mixed up in the real world. Dream? Nightmare? You decide. . .

Lethargy/sleepiness despite having many hours of sleep could be due to what Yerril said.

However, I've found that there is a more mundane reason for it. Try some exercise. It'll probably tire you out even more but your energy/alertness level should be much better the following day.

So far, it's:

Mon free
Tue 8am - 8pm
Wed 8am - 11.25pm
Thu 11.40am - 3.05pm
Fri 1.30pm - 3.05pm

I could take the pain of Mon 8pm - 9.30 pm and make Tue's 8am - 1.15pm and Fri's free at the cost of Thu's 8am - 6.25pm. Can't decide. Need to think.

At first it looked nice, coming from about 45hours/week. This year's uni schedule looked very, very relaxing: less than 30 hours/week.
Till this one teacher says: "I need two more hours a week for I'll be gone in November"
Then this other teacher says:"We must finish this before Christmas, adding two hours here and two hours there."
Then we found out we needed to make 2x75hours working in two chosen departements.
Lastest news, the guy giving optics, says "hey, you got lab work to do for me, didn't you know" -no we didn't.
Hell, that's 40hours/week again I guess. Just can't catch a brake. :coffee:

Word of the Day for Wednesday October 1, 2003

expropriate \ek-SPROH-pree-ayt\, transitive verb:
1. To deprive of possession.
2. To transfer (the property of another) to oneself.

Very few voters, after all, really believe Europe's new
generation of social democratic leaders are wild Bolsheviks
plotting to expropriate their Toyotas.
--Fintan O'Toole, "The last gasp of social democracy,"
[1]Irish Times, March 19, 1999

The Spanish constitution declared the country "a democratic
republic of workers of all classes" and laid down that
property might be expropriated "for social uses."
--Mark Mazower, [2]Dark Continent

Farmlands that had belonged to Bosnia's Muslim beys...
and agas were expropriated without compensation and handed
over to their former tenant sharecroppers.
--Chuck Sudetic, [3]Blood and Vengeance
__________________________________________________ _______

Expropriate comes from Medieval Latin expropriatus, past
participle of expropriare, "to deprive of property," from
Latin ex- + proprius, "one's own." The act of expropriating is
expropriation. One who expropriates is an expropriator.

LMAO! The word of the day reminds me of a running joke my friends and I had at the university (and I still use from time to time).

Whenever someone would jokingly accuse us of stealing something (I can't remember what situation started it), we'd always respond: "I don't steal! ...I expropriate." or "I didn't steal it, I merely expropriated it."

chevalier
Wed, 1st Oct '03, 8:00pm
"This is not revenge. This is retribution"

Bad news. Beginning with this very year, certificates no longer give you a free mark for language courses at our university. Welcome to the world of C1, more or less CAE level - and most probably rather at the end than at the beginning. They just don't do higher levels. It's also so late in the evening that it means sitting there from 8 am to 8 pm, as having a break after 1.15 pm and coming back to the city for English course is hardly worth it (add two hours needlessly spent on getting home and back there). I could still sacrifice my sweet free Mondays instead :( ... Although getting free Fridays does sound appealing.

I hope someone posts a thread about him in SS. I would, but I feel wierd doing so as I barely knew him. I know there are many here who knew him well. I wouldn't want his memory to get lost in Random Babbling. He's an SP member, and deserves the honor of his own tribute topic.

Rally, perhaps? Or Alustriel, if you feel up to it.

Condolences and god bless.

Hmmm. I haven't visited the BoMs in a long time. Been sitting around flirting with people in the chatroom.
Why am I posting here? I think somebody from the chatrooms said that I should post in Random Babblings more. It was either Aikanaro or Arabwel or Octara or Spellbound or Rallymama or Rotku or Taza or Harkle or maybe Sorvo. Not too sure.
Anyway, I think I should sleep now.
There was no real point to this post but this IS random babbling, ya?

As a side note I somehow got second equal (in our class) in a major-ish (but optional) test. And it was a english test. And english is my second language. Go figure, honestly!

I killed Taluntain Sunday night!!

Well, to be specific, I was beta-testing the Sorcerer's Place Mode for Taza, which has Tal as the shopkeepr.

I looked at his CRE file in Shadowkeeper, and of course I notice the wads of spells, with resistances and saving throws piled sky high.
So I thought, "Why not?" Problem is, he doesn't fight back. The circle never changes from blue to red, and I ended up commtting BG2 murder without a struggle. Must be a bug, for it does seem "out of character" for our admin.

Lich ought to rhyme with "ditch" or "stitch". "Lych" was an old English word for "corpse". How it got warped into a term for an undead spellcaster, I have no idea. Silly D&Ders.

It has been pronounced, I believe, as "leech", "leash", and "leak".

DM: "There's a lich in this room."
Player: "I step on it."

DM: "There's a lich in this room."
Player: "I put it on my pet wolf."

DM: "There's a lich in this room."
Player: "I plug it up."

DM: "There's a lich in this room."
Player: (rolls for initiative) "I roll a 21."
DM: "The lich goes first. It casts Imprisonment on you."

Wed, 8th Oct '03, 4:03am
I rhyme lich with a word for female dog that some days I feel really applies to my soon to be ex-wife . . .

It was an old term for body, and I think that since that's what has been kept animated by magic, that's the word they chose.

Several things to say as I haven't said much in some time.

1. To Alustriel aka Ashley, I'm really sorry about your brother he seemed like a cool kid and I'm sure you'll really miss him. :(

2. Yankees Suck. I can't believe we lost to them last night. That was depressing. :wail: And in typical Red Sox fan fashion all I have to say is, "This year's our year! This time we'll do it!"

3. There is no way to get down from being hyper. Trust me. I drank only two cups of tea last Friday after a football game (a very very cold football game, stupid color guard) and I was wired until 2 in the morning. Yet I had a friend who drank 2 cups of coffee and was tired and went to bed. *shrug* It's all about your body chemistry.

4. Speaking of football games, tomorrow is Westbubble's Homecoming. Now realizing that many of you are not football fans and have no idea how big the high school obsession with it runs, allow me to explain. We have this "special" football game. The day before it they have a pep rally  and that morning they have a parade through the center of town which stops up traffic for a good half an hour (because there is like 2 main routes in this town and everyone has to go on one or the other to get out of here and of course we stop up Main street with floats and a marching band and little kids throwing candy) and then they have this fair-thingy where special interest groups raise money with their booths and then there's the football game and then after that is this special semi-formal dance where they announce the most popular boy and girl of each grade. Sounds lovely right? *gag, choke, gasping for air* So anyways as Color Guard captain I have to put on the illusion of enjoying all this. Luckily this year I don't have to perform at the pep rally but I have to put in a two hour practice this afternoon just so I can teach people to march and go over a routine that nobody knows.... And then tomorrow I have to smile for half an hour in the parade, and then again when we start the football game, do the halftime show, and leave again (even if we lose I have to smile, though in honesty I couldn't care less anyway) I also have to pretend to have extreme amounts of pep and energy. Does it make you want to hurl as much as I do??? :help:  :mommy: At least I don't have to go to the dance.

5. I have a new discman. This would make my 7th in 3 years. Not so bad; they actually last longer than my average walkman (I went through 33 of those in 5 years) On that note I do find it curious that my discman appliances die so much faster than everyone elses. Is it because I use them more than most people? Is it that I put them through more "crashes?" This is a mystery I have yet to unveil.

6. I'm also going to complain a bit more about color guard so run and hide your eyes. :flaming: Yeah so, my school decided it'd be a fun idea to schedule Homecoming on the same day as SATs. So now my co-captain will busy taking SATs as well as another Junior in our group. Also Nicole (my fun, fantasy-loving sophomore who's not great at twirling but has a killer toss and catch -- Boo-yeah!) will be in Disney World. So that leaves me and a newbie because everyone else has been skipping practices. AAAHHH :bang: At least they'll all be there for the game (well except Nicole)

7. And lastly, I hate freewrites in creative writing. Anyone with me on that? I get the idea behind them and I think it's agood idea but I'm already extraordinarily creative and I'm really not worried about getting MORE ideas so much as completing the ones I already have. Meh. Silly Creative Writing class. I had to create two characters that weren't fantasy based for this outline our teacher wants us to do. Originally I was going to write my short story about a bard but she makes us answer all these specific questions that don't go well with ANY fantasy characters. So instead I created this 46 year old bar-owner from the Bronx who moved to Texas. hehe. That's fun.

So I'm done now and you can all stop hiding.

Silverwolf86, your tales of Color Guard remind me of my days in marching band, oh so long ago... Nice to know that some things never change!

So, Ms. Creative Writer, when are you going to come ply your talents in our cooperative story in CS, huh?! :D

Silverwolf86
Fri, 10th Oct '03, 5:56pm
@ Rallymama: *shrug* I actually finished writing the first book to a trilogy (all fantasy of course) But I finished it several months before joining SP and so by then it was already 356 *checks* sorry 355 computer pages long... So figure around 575-600 nomral book pages. So my thought was it might just be a bit too long to put it in CS. Although in actuality I refer to it quite often throughout Sorcerer's Place especially since my screen name is a character in my book. So yeah. I'm currently debating when to send it off to Tor Publishing (agents bug me and it's insanely hard to find one really interested in fantasy of my style) and at the moment I've decided to try to get more than just poems published. Anyways, if a lot of people are intersted in it I will put in CS but as I said, it's only the first in a trilogy, and insanely long at that.

@Silverwolf86: Sounds very cool! Good luck with getting published. You'll have to get Tal to put up a link when you do!

Honestly, though, I had smething far more modest in mind... Have you read the "Story of the Staff," our current cooperative story? New "faces" are always welcome!

Congrats, Silverwolf.

@Ara: I have a special gift for euphemisms.

Today, I went to visit my friends at Classics Department. One third my highschool class is there. Such nice lasses they have there, not like our Law (with a disturbingly insignificant number of exceptions). And they speak Latin :xx: I'll have to talk to my friends and get into a Classics party. Law parties suck irredeemably and irrevocably. So soon as my wounds have more or less healed, I'll have to pay some attention to Classics.

Bought manuals for law. Civil, penal, administrative, constitutional... international is still to buy. Law sucks and so do manuals. Also studying law sucks. For some reasons I'm still there. Strange. They keep saying I'm lawyer born. Perhaps because I'm a sick bastard and have a knack for getting away with things.

Thanks Chev, and yes Rallymama I have been reading it and enjoying it at that. I just don't comment ever. (I'll have to start doing that)

And I know that in my enormous pos above I already complained and ranted about color guard but it bears continuation. See I just went to practice. Unfortunately I was the only one there. One of my friends being in Florida already, another studying for the SATs she's taking tomorrow morning and the last one having been forced to participate in some sort of Student Council function about tomorrow. (Stupid teacher who runs that. . . I NEED EVERY MEMBER I CAN GET) Originally we were supposed to have 6 people this year. In fact it'd been estimated that we'd have 8 because that's how many people first came to the meetings and played with our stuff (swords are attractive, what can I say?) But now there are 4 of us. Oh and tomorrow? I have to solo the parade. Now generally we're also supposed to have an Honor Guard which carries the American and State flags, and the banner. Also if we have ltos of people then they carry rifles too (to protect the flags -- don't ask, it's a silly American tradition that even Americans don't get) And then the color guard twirls batons behind the Honor Guard. Tomorrow I will be the only one. Although I will have 1/2 of a band with me. But only half because the other half will be taking the SATs. Only good thing I have to say about tomorrow is that I won't be the only color guard member on the feild for the half-time show. But in reflection considering that I'm the only at practices lately. . . .

So I ask this question of everyone and no one: Doesn't responsibility suck? And why, why do I care so much? Seriously. If the band sucks without a color guard, why should I care?? Of course I do care and that's why I do this. But it's stupid. So yeah. I'm going to go mope and listen to Moxy Fruvous songs.

There are two kinds of people: the ones that are willing to take resposibility and the ones hiding away from it. I believe I fit in the first category
Taking responsibilty can be difficult, but it can give you a real good feeling when something you feel responsible for succeeds!

Responsibilty is fun as long as it does not involve an extreme amount of hard work.

And 8people, ignor the rude comments and enjoy people looking at you thinking you're such an idiot. If you get to annoyed by it it will only be bad for you. Just be happy with the knowldge that they have no idea what they are talking about which makes them the fool, not you.

Chevalier's Axiom and Corollary:

Following chevalier's axiom ('chevalier is always right'), chevalier's corollary states that 'whoever disagrees with chevalier, is wrong' as, logically, if chevalier is right, and he always is, every statement contradicting a statement made by chevalier is inherently wrong, conditional upon it having any logical value at all. In this particular case it is always 0, even if it used to be 1 before the statement made by chevalier according to chevalier's Retroactive Corollary.

This is also known, informally, as the Dogma of Infallibility of chevalier.

8people
Sun, 12th Oct '03, 9:31pm
So what if Chev says he's wrong :hmm:

chevalier
Sun, 12th Oct '03, 9:43pm
In that case, under chevalier's Retroactive Corollary, the previous sentence is switched from logical value 1 to logical value 0 and thus chevalier is correct when saying that he was wrong when making the said previous sentence.

If I say he's wrong and he claims he's right, he's still wrong under chevalier's Corollary. Also each of his past statements assumes logical 0 value if I say so, by virtue of chevalier's Retroactive Corollary.
