View Full Version : Cheating on SP ... What Other Forums Do You Troll?
Mon, 3rd Feb '03, 10:53pm
I'm assuming we aren't all monogamous ... posting only on this forum.
Sorcerer's Place was my first, and is still my most frequently visited board. While it will always have a place in my heart, my interests have taken me to some other forums. Mostly forums with Christian or Pastor content.
What other forums do you all frequent? Not sure if Tal wants us to post links to other sites ... but I'm curious what subject matters and site names other than SP have caught your attention.
With Tal's permission ... see below ... here are the links to my favorite sites and forums.
Thrid Millenium (http://www.thirdmill.org/)
This page was started by one of my professors from seminary, and the boards are moderated by a former SP-er! If you have any questions on higher-thought & Christianity, search this site!
Desiring God (http://www.desiringgod.com/)
John Piper is one of my favorite authors, and this site links to his works and to similar-minded pieces of scholarship. The forum inspired by this page is located at http://dgmforum.hardlight.co.uk/
Christianity Today (http://www.christianitytoday.com/)
This magazine has been a bedrock of information for years. Great stuff!
Ransomed Hearts (https://www.ransomedheart.com/index.cfm?)
This is another one of my favorite authors. The boards here are for memebers only (sorry) ... you have to go to a retreat. The content is pretty personal ... issues with your dad, wife, self ... that's why its not open to the public.
Last but not least is Discover God (http://www.discovergod.org/index.html)
This site/forum was just launched a week ago. There is a great database here for any question God-related.
Can you see that I kinda have a one-track mind? I'm either defeating the darkness with my cleric/paladin self on SP, or I'm learning and working on how to better defeat the Enemy in RL! :good:
Enjoy .. and please tell me what you think ... e-mail, PM or just reply below.

There are actually 2 sites I visit: My mail-account :D and SP ;) That's all.
I only post on the Boards o'Magick. :good:
I gave a link at some thread for Middle-Earth matters, nothing special! I promise! ;)
I'm interested in these Christian/Pastor-things you told us about, though. Could you PM me the URL?
Mon, 3rd Feb '03, 11:04pm
samixzone and some philosophysites, sorry Tal, I cheated on you :shame:
Mon, 3rd Feb '03, 11:07pm
I've posted at the Lurkerlounge (http://www.lurkerlounge.com) (Diablo oriented site) for a long time, but as the community their died down a bit, so did my posting there.
I also post at the PvP Forum (http://www.pvponline.com), as well as a messageboard set up by a couple of friends. (local, none of your interest)
Edit: It's not so much that I'm cheating on SP, I just like spreading the Faragon-love. And that sounds afwully wrong

Nuhn ... sent.
Tal ... give me your blessing to post some links and I will. I just don't want to blatently help the competition ;)
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 12:03am
SP is my first frequently visited message board.
SW boards incur my wrath from time to time.
That's it for now. But hey Mat, send me some of those links. I'm interested.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 12:13am
SP's the only site like this I visit, I swear! Of course, it's one of 2 sites I ever visit regularly...the other being Homtmail...
PS-Sorry to jump on the bandwagon, but you wouldn't mind sending me some of those URL's too, would you? Please?
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 12:33am
SP is the only game related board I use. I do also post on the My Little Pony Trading Post boards, and at Tom's Place, which is a fishkeeping message baord. Not exactly what you'd call SP competition... :D

I'm interested as well Mat!
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 12:39am
This is the "board" that I post on, although I am a member of a few "ListServs."
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 1:37am
I'm monogamous, posting only on this forum.
I have an account on yahoo for email and playing games, but that's it.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 2:14am
I must admit I ogle at the 3rdedition.org Boards. :(
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 2:25am
I was previously somewhat unfaithful with Mature Gamer, Slappy's site for us old farts in the gaming world. But there hasn't been much action there in awhile so this is the only gaming site for me now.
The main board I post on is called "Canning and Preserving the Harvest". It's no competition for SP- it's a site for survivalist-type housewives like me. :) Today I learned about a recipe for squirrel and dumplings! ("First, load your shotgun..." No, I'm kidding.) But usually it's not that avant-garde, just women talking about our experiences making pickles and that sort of thing. I also post from time to time on the AllExperts expert board (I'm an AE "expert" in the Home Cooking, British Cooking and French Cooking categories).
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 2:27am
obviously. this is where i've gotten D.Simpson's Baldur's Gate series faqs which in turn lead me to Sorcerers.net. Sometime when i came across people asking technical problems, i will direct them to here.
i play some Championship Manager along the way. This forum to the game is like sorcerers.net to Bioware & Black Isle games.
This is my high school class homepage. Although we graduated in 96 but we are still keeping in touch with each other. Outsiders not welcomed.
If i need some good laugh, i will go there to some uninspiring, rubbish, stupid trash posts about my favorite football (aka soccer) club Liverpool Football Club. Anyone with me?
Lastly, i have been visiting this particular forum that do nothing but bashing our government. It has been down for a while now (out of some mysterious reasons) and i haven't found a replacement.

There's a board related to the cooking show "Good Eats" that I sometimes read, and one called Chowhounds that's all non-professional restaurant reviews. Other than that, I'm on a parenting mailing list and one for cycling, but they're not terribly active.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 3:50am
a couple of local forums.
one is about movies, DVD and others. while the other is a tech. forum that deals basically with computers and such. games are very minimal on these two sites. and the people there are... well, the locals.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 7:44am
Well, I used to post on Icewinddale and the R.A. Salvatore site forum, but I became rather unpopular seeing as I was, well, myself. And tried to keep up SP:an standards of English language :)
These days, the only forums I frequent are SP amd www.dmrealms.net, (http://www.dmrealms.net,) where I have a few unfinished games...
(loony.... tired... and broke...)
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 9:16am
Sure, feel free post links to other sites, as long as they're not direct competition to SP, i.e. covering the same content.
(Edit your original posts with the links.)
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 9:34am
My first and foremost: SP
I occasionaly check out the boards at blackisle: interplay but never post.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 9:54am
This is the only forum I go on. To be honest, there's enough here to keep you going all day! It takes me ages to go through the posts ;)
The only other internet sites I visit are Ratemykitten dot com, Boners dot com, MSN communities, and rathergood dot com. I play NWN more than surfing now
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 10:20am
Depends. I follow the forums of the most recent products I'm waiting for, which means that they change all the time. Then again, there are some forums that have become "regulars" to me.
A Finnish mostly lame discussion forum of all general things.
Interplay forum. All things about Fallouts and Baldur's Gates. Joined only recently with Lionheart, but thanks to the pre-mentioned titles I think I'm there to stay.
While waiting for SWG.
You'd never guess what that is.
So I only have 2 forums that I've visited steadily for a while now. I stopped following Starsiege: Tribes forums years ago, and I've not visited many others save some mod forums for different games etc.
But I do idle hours on hours of time in IRC. Quakenet's channels #mirage, #knightb, #dof, #mademen, and #kalja being the public channels I can remember. And I've been thinking for a while of joining sorcerer's channel as well.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 11:07am
Utopia is pretty much the only site that is open whenever I'm on the net. But I always makes sure that SP precedes it on my taskbar :)
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 11:12am
Well SP is still my most frequently visited site (or at least joint first).
There's also www.xboxrules.com, (http://www.xboxrules.com,) I love this site. The IRC chat is great too. Don't really like the Xbox much, but the gaming talk is just the same.
www.playstationrules.com, (http://www.playstationrules.com,) just a dead forum at the moment, still to be launched. I'm a staff member here.
www.playstation.com (http://www.playstation.com) Lovely, SO much better than the Xbox official site.
And that's about it really. :)
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 1:55pm
There's a LOTR message board in Estonian and FW.net.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 9:09pm
Only really post here now and even thats pretty rare.
Used to frequent www.nosgoth.net (http://www.nosgoth.net) 's boards, the best legacy of kain site i have ever seen...
Was at Planet Baldur's Gate but I left shortly after the changeover to forum planet.
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 9:48pm
I only post on SP, I have posted twice on Forgotten realms asking about WeIDU.
But that was it. I still go on sometimes... rarely, I don't think I fit in. Then again where do I?
Tue, 4th Feb '03, 9:53pm
Forgot to mention ... I tried the ALFA forum for awhile ... but the people there were mean!
Never want to go back there!
Wed, 5th Feb '03, 5:25pm
I never visit any other forum, I'm completely faithful to SP. Except sometimes the WotC forum... ;)
Wed, 5th Feb '03, 6:29pm
I ocassionaly post on the ALFA forums and in the past I've posted some things on the forums of an RP group that worshipped Eilistraee but that's all.
I'm already very happy if I can find the time to post on the BoM these days.
The Deviant Mage
Wed, 5th Feb '03, 8:13pm
I post at the Wizards of the Coast official boards...there are so many there that there is always something to read or respond to. I won't post the link, it covers some of the same content as SP (it does own D&D, after all).
I'm Vargx there (and anywhere else that isn't here).
Sat, 8th Feb '03, 3:42am
Well, there's always www.utopiatemple.com. (http://www.utopiatemple.com.) Aikanaro, you may want to check that one out if you haven't already.
Sometimes I'll visit fwstudios, forgottenwars, and the bioware official boards, but it's rare that I find time for that.
Sat, 8th Feb '03, 10:04am
Amazingly, SP wasn't my first forum. It was www.starmen.net (http://www.starmen.net). Good place, at least it was up until problems formed. Too many annoying naive narcissistic suck-ups.
Sun, 9th Feb '03, 2:39am
I post on several gamingforums.
4 Unforgotten realms
5 The last hope
10 The Silver river
11 A forum not to be mentioned in this place. :D
Wed, 12th Feb '03, 8:48pm
Joined a few days ago to a forum named Temple of Aozos. (http://www.aozos.com) Thought of giving it a fair chance... Not one of the biggest forums with its 82 members, nor the best, but still: it has some fan-fics. Heh, if anybody moves around there, you should be able to recognize me. ;) Hopefully this forum turns out to be a good one.
Hmm... My avatar, in Aozos, has gained some weight...

enworld (http://www.enworld.org) gets more of my attention than SP, more because I havent been playing CRPGs too often recently, and enworld focuses solely on pen and paper.
Sometimes I read WotC's boards, mostly the min/max forum.
And also RPG.net occasionally, but havent posted there.
Wed, 12th Feb '03, 11:24pm
Teekc-I'm glad to see someone who plays Championship Manager.Someone cares about soccer at all. That's great ;)
I posted a while on
IMO the best music group in the world with great virtuoses(i'm sure i spelled that wrong) John Petrucci,Mike Portnoy,Jordan Rudess,John Myung.
I play Magic:The Gathering and i posted a while on this site when i was playtesting for Turkish Nationals
Wizards of the Coast,E.Cunningham and more authors post on the boards too.
But now i'm posting only on sorcerers.net,i got bored on others, they are were based on one topic (wizards were not but i really can't argue with some kids playing pokemon)
Wed, 12th Feb '03, 11:47pm
Sorry Tal, I've cheated on you with several other fourms.
The ones I most frequently visit besides BoM are:
Forgotten Wars Projects (http://forums.forgottenwars.net/index.php) Yup, this is home to the Kelsey, Dungeon-B-Gone, Flirt Packs, and a bunch of other really cool mods.
Forgotten Wars Studios (http://forums.fwstudios.net/) This is the "sister" site to FWP. It's home to a bunch more really cool mods such as Solaufien, RtW, and Silver Star.
TeamBG Forums (http://www.teambg.net/forum/) I used to go there a lot when I first started modding. And whenever I try to do something really bizarre with items and I need help.
There have been others, but I only joined them to get a question answered. :rolling:

Actually SP is the only place i'm posting..
Ran over it someday (not the forum) and downloaded a couple of things..
Recently revisited it (needed some stuff for IWD2) and found the forum.. and here I am.. posting :D
Thu, 13th Feb '03, 12:25am
I use to be a regular at 3DO until they changed everything. :(
