View Full Version : The name(s) of your future child(ren)?
Loerand Thu, 18th Sep '03, 10:22pm I got this idea from the chatroom. I haven't seen a topic like this before, so let's go! What would the name(s) of your future child(ren) be?
Or if you have kids, what are their names?
chevalier Thu, 18th Sep '03, 10:30pm First son? Just what it says in my passport.
The rest of the lot? I'll think of something :D
Errol Thu, 18th Sep '03, 11:44pm If I have a girl (which I'd really like), I'd vote to name her Rose or Ebony, possibly Jessica or Louise. I love girls' names, hehe :)
Of course, no matter what happens, my wife will end up having chosen. *sigh*
Grey Magistrate Thu, 18th Sep '03, 11:50pm I'm really keen on three girl names. Athanasia Yesterday, which means "the undying yesterday"; Alyssa Catherine, which means "pure rationality"; and Regan-Mireille, which means "ruler of light". Lovely!
Lokken Thu, 18th Sep '03, 11:52pm Alexander, Phoenix, Jade, Sarah, Jessica, Mariah..
that's about what I can think of, I might just be biased to name one Storm (inspired by DJ :p ).
Though like Gopher, I'm sure my going to be wife would have a say in a lot of this, lol.
Slith Fri, 19th Sep '03, 1:19am I've always liked "Fenix," also "Victoria," and lastly "Argyle." Argyle is an awesome name, but I've never heard it attached to anyone, so I would be a bit reluctant to do that to my kid.
chevalier Fri, 19th Sep '03, 1:29am Jaheira, Keldorn, Valygar... :D
Kitiara Fri, 19th Sep '03, 1:33am I think Lokken stole one from me :p
I have three children
11 year old named Robert Charles *Robert from his grandfather, charles from his dad's side*
6 year old named Jade Katherine *Jade being a name i liked, Katherine is her great grammas name*
3 year old named Colin James * Colin after me :) , and James is his dads middle name*
Baldrak Fri, 19th Sep '03, 2:09am I think that I would name a boy Alexander after my father, but I would have to talk about that when I meet my future wife...
I haven't really thought about girls names.
Kitrax Fri, 19th Sep '03, 2:51am For the Boys: Aaron, Joseph (Joe), William (Will), Robert (Rob/Bob), Jack, Frank, Fred, or Huckleberry. :p
For the Girls: Sarah, Jessica, Melissa, Kathryn (Kat), Emma, Beth, or Bonqueisha.
The other day I met a really beautiful girl whose middle name is Aerie...not to mention the street next to mine is named Aerie Hill Dr. so maybe the name Aerie might squeeze in to one of the girl's middle names. :rolling:
Rallymama Fri, 19th Sep '03, 4:42am My son's name is Arlyn Frederick, after his deceased grandparents Arlyne and Alfred (my MIL and Dad, respectively). It's a Jewish custom to name children after the deceased, never the living.
If we ever have a daughter, we'd go for some variant of Maxine (Velcro's aunt) and/or Helen (my grandmother).
dmc Fri, 19th Sep '03, 6:21am My (almost) six year old son is named Miles Benjamin (after my maternal grandfather Milton and my wife's paternal grandfather Benjamin).
My (almost) three year old daughter is Sofia Joelle (after my wife's maternal grandmother Shirley and my paternal grandmother Jenny).
As Rally mentioned, we Jews name after the deceased (except some Sephardic Jews who name after the living). We also tend to use just the initial rather than the whole name. I scored big naming Miles after Milton because I got three letters.
Mesmero Fri, 19th Sep '03, 8:02am Conan and He-man :hahaerr:
But seriously, if I have children, I think Zoe would be a good option for a girl. If it is a boy, I want to call him Harper.
Rotku Fri, 19th Sep '03, 9:05am I would have no idea. To far away.
The only thing I do know is that it wouldn't be a family name. I would never name a child after some family member, that would just be... boring.
BigStick Fri, 19th Sep '03, 1:50pm My 5 1/2 year old son is named Alan Michael. "Alan" because it works in both English and Spanish, and we liked it. "Michael" because we liked it with "Alan".
My 2 1/2 year old daughter is Emily Rose. "Emily" after her great-grandmother Emilia and "Rose" from her grandmother's middle name, Rosa. The grandmothers are my wife's mother and maternal grandmother. (They're both not only still alive, but take care of her while we work. I never have been a good Jew. :) )
There will be no more....
When my wife was still getting her B.S. and we were dating, she had an assignment to come up with a timeline of her future. We worked it out together one night over the phone. We planned two children then too, (K/C)rystal and Andrew. :D
Shell Fri, 19th Sep '03, 2:18pm My (nearly) 2 year old son is named Jack Alexander. Jack after my grandad who died the day ebfore he was born, and Alexander after his dad. Within the next month it'll be changed to Jack Macaulay Allan. Jack for the same reason, Macaulay just because I like it, and Allan after my dad.
For future children ( which I definately plan to have! ) I like for boys: Kieran/Ciaran, Matthew, Luke, Reuben, Robin, Dale, Hayden, Hadrian, Cameron, Aaron and Jordan.
For girls I like: Sarah, Jade/Jayde, Jasmin/Jasmine, Kirsty, Holly, Rhiannon, Jodie, Shannon, Marie and Leah. :)
Jack Funk Fri, 19th Sep '03, 2:38pm Hey Shell! My son (3 in 3 weeks) is also named Jack. After my grandfather! Wild. His middle name is Brian, after my brother.
I also have a daughter named Pamela Eve. Pamela after my wifes sister, Eve because we like the name.
We call here Eve. Right now it's Baby Eve.
Big B Fri, 19th Sep '03, 6:16pm Nolan and Norah are the only two names I care about. We'll have to see what my future wife has to say about it when the time comes. I can be persuaded for something better, but not anything like an overused name such as Mark or Stephanie, etc. Blah.
Uytuun Fri, 19th Sep '03, 6:38pm Girls: Alexandra, Sophia, Imoën (admit it, it's a great name :D )
Boys: James, Serafim (means: burning), Sean.
Master of Nuhn Fri, 19th Sep '03, 6:47pm For girls:
Lotte, Sanne, Nynke, Roos, Lise, Ilse, Anouk, Lydia, Ellen and Myrthe.
For boys: Joost (like my brother), Jelle and er.. mmh, seemingly I prefer girls.

chevalier Fri, 19th Sep '03, 6:48pm On second thought, I forgot about one person. My daughter, or one of my daughters, is seriously going to get Nalia somewhere. Maybe the last of given names.
Mr Writer Fri, 19th Sep '03, 7:19pm Josh, Matthew and Katharine (with an A)
Dragon's Jewel Fri, 19th Sep '03, 8:01pm Lokken: My daughter will be so pleased. ;)
I have one named Stormie Alexandria and one named Kyrra Rae (two girls obviously, and twins as most of you know)
If I ever have any more (Hah!) I would like to name them Gavin Mikel for a boy and something with Josephine in it for a girl. Though I have to admit, I will probably wait until after the next (Haha!) child is actually born to give him/her a name.
8people Fri, 19th Sep '03, 10:14pm I'd make up fantasy names, probably, lol, :heh:
but nothing ridiculous. I am not a cruel person really, however I may come across as usual.
Eze Sun, 21st Sep '03, 12:19pm No idiotic stuff ofcourse.
Miranda for a girl and Karl or Sean for a boy.
I am so bloody original.
Baezlebub Sun, 21st Sep '03, 1:05pm Well, I've always been rather partial to the following:
River
Leaf
Rainbow
(They may choose to change their names to something like Joachin, but that's their decision)
Moon Unit  :shake:
I've always thought that Elanor was a nice name, but it seems rather archaic. Then there is Lisa, Sara.
Boy's, well certainly not John-Robin(first name)as friends of my dad have named their first kid. Probably something generic like Greg, or Jaime.
They'll all probably end up being refered to as 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. anyway ;) .
Shura Sun, 21st Sep '03, 2:11pm Regardless of gender: "Holy crap! Where the hell did you come from?!"- with punctuation marks and all.
Of course, such a name might not fit into the birth certificate and definitely ranks amongst the strange and unusual names a child is cursed with by his/her parents.
(Sex is fine. Children are not.) ;)
Pac man Sun, 21st Sep '03, 4:31pm It's not supposed to happen, but when i do get a son one way or another, i'll name him hewhowasnotexpectedbutcamenonetheless. If it would happen to be a girl, just put an "s" in front of the name. :D
Sprite Sun, 21st Sep '03, 4:49pm I want a Siamese cat named Princess Arjumand and a Bernese Mountain dog named Fezzik.
8people Sun, 21st Sep '03, 5:56pm What's that got to do with children? :hmm:
Sir Belisarius Sun, 21st Sep '03, 6:14pm Hmmm, there are a couple I'd like...But we'll see.
Boys: Eric, John, Markus, Robert or William
Girls: Bronwyn, Jenna, Elanor, Scout (I guess more of a middle name or a nick (from To Kill a Mockingbird), Keeley, Samantha, Kyle or Trixie...Okay, just kidding about that last one... ;)
joacqin Sun, 21st Sep '03, 6:29pm My dad had a dog named Trixie Bel! I think he would be very honoured if you named a daughter after that nervous little cocker spaniel.
Shell Mon, 22nd Sep '03, 5:09pm Check some of these out! Celebrity baby names (http://http://www.babyzone.com/babynames/celebritynames.asp)
Ofelix Tue, 23rd Sep '03, 4:09am I must admit I don't really think about child right now. Why? I'm 15 I live with my parent (well duh) and I don't have a gir... and... because!
