View Full Version : Your Weapons
Khazraj Mon, 29th Sep '03, 1:21am Other than modern firearms...
What weapons do you own?
I have a bow. I like archery and I am considering getting a crossbow. Little steep price.

Oaz Mon, 29th Sep '03, 1:25am Tennis racket.
chevalier Mon, 29th Sep '03, 1:46am My diplomatic skills ;)
Seriously though, longsword. Early 16th century Spanish pattern. Cavalry one, designed to chop grunts. One metre long. Weight distribution according to destination (the blade is much heavier than the handle). Devastating in foot combat, but needs a strong user, preferably trained wrist.
Wrench. 10'' steel wrench. It fits nicely in my bag.
Some staff or two. Excellent wrist training. Good for fidgeting. Good also for trying out things you wouldn't like to beta-test with a sword ;)
I'm also quite proficient with chairs, bottles and table legs.
Eh, forgot about one thing: voice, glance etc. Intimidating, or making unable to act, or simply defocusing, with eye-to-eye glance also turning attention away from slight movements like taking a weapon etc etc... quite often, and succesfully. Other than that, I stick to hands and legs. At least it's more or less legally safe since I haven't had any official training and I'm not using any weapon. Parapets, handles etc can still be used as levers, one enemy can be used as a tool against another one... Not so really bad as it would seem.

Shura Mon, 29th Sep '03, 2:01am I favor my fists and feet in a fight over weapons, seeing as how I'm far more proficient with them then with, say, an iron bar.
I've got a pair of wooden swords somewhere in my closet, though.
I like knives.
rastilin Mon, 29th Sep '03, 2:58am I can throw knives pretty well but I would like to get a katana someday.
Silverwolf86 Mon, 29th Sep '03, 5:37am I own a sabre... But of course it's a twirling sabre for color guard (but it's really nice! Black handle, perfect balance -- a captain's sabre, shorter but better for throwing) just as my rifle is merely a solid block of wood that has been finely whittled to look like a rifle and designed for throwing. I think it counts though!
Seriously though I want a bow and an axe but my father went into this big long thing about "not celebrating tools of violence" so I guess I won't be getting one till I have my own apartment... aka college.
Benan Mon, 29th Sep '03, 8:06am I have a golf club in my room...does that count?
Faragon Mon, 29th Sep '03, 8:54am - Kukri (blunted)
- Agincourt Longsword (blunted)
- Arnis Sticks (standard)
- Hardwood Arnis Stick
- USA Police Stick
And I'll be getting a mace soon to :)
Erebus Mon, 29th Sep '03, 9:24am 2 British broadswords
5 knives (my favorite is a mongolian made knife with an ivory handle)
Loerand Mon, 29th Sep '03, 11:26am I have some knives, one of them is a "sami" knife with 10" blade(2d3)
I also have a baseball bat(1d4+1), and a slingshot, which fires bullets(1d2)...
Sephiroth Mon, 29th Sep '03, 1:52pm Well, I have a few knives and forks at home ;)
Edit: Oh I forgot, I have a chainsaw, too !

Rallymama Mon, 29th Sep '03, 2:02pm A can of mace and a pair of running shoes.
A 10" chef's knife and a 12" cast iron skillet. The problem with the pan is swinging it fast enough - that sucker is HEAVY.
I used to fence and recently gave away the last of my old equipment. All I have left is a non-functioning electric foil that's generally best used for getting things out from under the fridge. I do have one 18th century rapier that's sharp, hanging on the wall as decoration.
Death Rabbit Mon, 29th Sep '03, 4:38pm I have a few, but the coolest worth mentioning are:
Kwan Dao (pronounced kwon-dow). A heavy, curved blade on the end of a 3 foot shaft. Kind of like a short spear, but meant for slashing. Pretty. Brutal. Pretty brutal.
Long Sword. Hand-crafted steel longsword from Spain, though purchased in Mexico (so who knows where it really came from). Not the best craftsmanship, but hey - it could still kill ya.
Short sword. Gladius-style roman short sword, with a very ornate scabbard.
A brick. From my garage.
The rest are just staves, nunchaku, a few of which I've made myself. I'll be pciking up another weapon at the Texas Renaissance festival next weekend. Hey - it's tradition. ;)
@ Rally
Your post conjured up the image of you dual-wielding that frying pan and kitchen knife. Evildoers beware. Heeee-ya! :D :p
Thorin Mon, 29th Sep '03, 4:52pm I have a spoon. Not a special oversize, razor sharp spoon. Just a standard tea-spoon. Just don't allow me to get near you eyes.
Ohhh and I have a lot of pens, considering my strength, I think I could cause some nice damage to a person with them, Or wright a nice essay.
Master of Nuhn Mon, 29th Sep '03, 5:50pm My brain, you should be glad I never used it. (This counts for all humans, probably)
My sister, although she doesn't mean too, you can always count on some destructive patterns.
My bike
Eze Mon, 29th Sep '03, 9:45pm A dagger like thingy.
But I want a real sword. Heh.
Lokken Mon, 29th Sep '03, 10:33pm copy of sting and glamdring from lotr, and a sai (blunt end).
Aldazar Tue, 30th Sep '03, 4:38am Well, aside form the usual assortment of kitchen utensils strategically placed for home defense, I have a metal shopping trolley handle and half a pool cue.
Oh, and my breath.
Khazraj Tue, 30th Sep '03, 5:14am Cheers to all! :p I laughed my head off, but I was trying to be serious. I didn't really mean everyday objects or concepts.
Still giggling...
Danj Wed, 1st Oct '03, 4:54pm I have a bag of assorted goodies from my *ahem* loving uncles. They insisted that I learn to use all of those little pointy things as well so now I'm quite proficient in using anything in that goddamn bag. So far I've identified a wakizashi(very poor quality but a wakizashi nonetheless), an odd assortment of stilletto knives, throwing knives, butterfly knives, the brass knuckles (actually made out of steel and with barbed bits poking out all over the place) and the good old survival knife. The rest of the stuff in there I cannot name as of yet and trust me, there's quite a lot of stuff in there... Like this little stick thingie with a blade that pops out the side when you press a button. Kinda like a sickle or something.
Other than that christmas present I have a Hanwei Orchid set. That's a katana, wakizashi and tanto. In total, it cost me 3000 bucks. My wallet is still feeling that...
Baldrak Wed, 1st Oct '03, 5:08pm I have a Bastard Sword (1115 cm blade) and a Short Sword (45 cm blade). I'm not very proficient with them, but I'm trying to find enough tiem for training. A friend told me about courses on sword fighting, but I have to find out where they are given.
Someday I will be able to wield them both and not embarrass myself :D
edit: ok, that was indeed 115 cm

Morgoth Wed, 1st Oct '03, 8:02pm (1115 cm blade) tyeah right :shake:
I have my keyboard, my cats and a bunch of cd's, give me a scissors and some time and I'll have shuriken :D
iLLusioN' Wed, 1st Oct '03, 8:32pm im fairly sure he meant 115 but he could be serious exaggerator so never know :D
Me i got a buck knife, an egyptian dagger, and i got a scimitar and battle axe, i should have a set of katanas soon too
Dave the Magic Turtle Wed, 1st Oct '03, 8:59pm I have an asortment of toy guns and even one that makes dodgey machine gun Sound effects :D I love them all as if they were my own (which they are but you know what I mean). I would like to one day own a coollection of swords in the main areas of: katana, Bastard sword, and two handed, I once saw this hefty scottish claymore and I want it but I'm too young :sosad: .
I prefer medi-evil weapons and japanese weapons, and despise sabres cos they look silly (sorry all you sabre fans).
And a quick question does anyone own some "Tonfa" they're kind of wooden things but they're hard to describe. You'll know them if you own Dynasty Warriors 4 I think Sun Ce uses them.
8people Wed, 1st Oct '03, 10:06pm I have a big wooden stick/cane... and a short metal, hooked stick, both are very effective and make nice swishy noises
Arabwel Thu, 2nd Oct '03, 12:14pm Me?
I have an aerodynamic hunting knife, aka a throwing knife but I can't say it's one because they're illegal. It's a nice one, and sharp, too.
Then I have my sword, Surija, which USED to be a nice, sharp cavalry sword a century ago. Now it's a blunt piece of metal fitting for decorative/prop use. :/
I want a katana :(
Frostbite Thu, 2nd Oct '03, 1:19pm Crossbow (Grandads, firing mechanism broken, I will repare it sometime.)
Two long bows, only one string :( longbow, as in its the same hight as me when its unstrung. I have arrows too :)
Air pistol, with pellets.
I use most of these, and theres a cardboard bow full of arrow holes and pistol holes to proove it.
But... I want a sword, I really do :(
Gothmog• Thu, 2nd Oct '03, 7:43pm - A longbow.
Too bad its pretty weak by now. Got it few years back and kids grow ;)
- Lots and lots of home-made swords.
Most are wooden and great majority exist no longer. Being made out of common wood they dont last long. Some i've made out of iron. But its a really bad iron so if i give it a good smack it just bends. And not little :( With a few hits i made a scimitar out of long-short sword hybrid. :)
Right now i have some real good wood. Straight, 2 meter long and still in big blocks. Its been drying for a while now, so its a good wood. Beech. And lots of it :) Will make a good deal of good swords out of it in the winter
The Kilted Crusader Sat, 4th Oct '03, 3:49pm Two, black steel throwing knives. Piece of piss.
Rotku Sun, 5th Oct '03, 2:48am I almost brought a sword, if you see my Sword Price thread.
Other than that I have 2 recurb bows, and one compound.
Dragonfly Sun, 5th Oct '03, 6:38am I have a pair of baby nunchaks that are great for learning but wouldn't help you seriously if you were caught in a bad back alley. My husband and I bought a nice well made pair in Mexico City but we couldn't figure out how to bring them back so we had to leave them in his parents house.
Volsung Sun, 5th Oct '03, 10:48am My friend has two Katanas. But I don't like them as much as I like warhammers...
I would like to get a real warhammer but it's very difficult to find one and not all not all of them are nice. But a longsword would be nice too.
Splunge Mon, 6th Oct '03, 12:38am Just in case anyone is interested, from one of my favorite sites (after SP :) ):
How to make a sword (http://howstuffworks.lycoszone.com/sword-making.htm)
Baezlebub Mon, 6th Oct '03, 9:35am I wanted to buy a mace at the last medievil fair that I went to, but I didn't have the cash. It was such a pity, because it was really good. I got the guys business card though, so I can buy one if the fancy strikes me.
Rotku Mon, 6th Oct '03, 9:50am Oh and I have two... can't remember how to spell their names, but I'll take a guess, anece (sp?). And one bow, as in a long peice of wood used in verios martail arts.
Kitrax Tue, 7th Oct '03, 2:48am -Katana
-Wakizashi
-Tanto
-Crappy, chipped, barley sharp, semi long sword that looks similar to the Sword of Valeen
-Cheap, but cool dagger
-Umethar - Talisman of the Anath (awsome dagger)
I also have a bunch more daggers I'm going to get once my next pay check comes in. :rolling:
Mystra's Chosen Tue, 7th Oct '03, 8:58am I have a sacrificial dagger from Palestine or Syria or Judea.
Other than that, some of my music might be considered a weapon.
