Okay, there were two, count 'em, two threads for Mother's Day here, but I see nothing for Father's Day?

What's up with that?

Did anyone celebrate Father's Day yesterday? If so, what did you do/give/get?

Me, I made breakfast, went to church, made lunch, played with my daughter at the park, made dinner, then watched The Mask of Zorro with her (she loves swords!). Except for peeing herself (and a few books) at Barnes and Nobles, it was a great day!

:good:

Neglect of Father's Day on this forum goes along with general sentiment. According to Ma Bell, Mother's Day is the busiest phone-day of the year. Father's Day is the busiest day of the year for COLLECT calls. Kinda sad.

Since it was also our son's third birthday, we went for a bike ride to a local playground, then went househunting (what else? but I think it's all coming to an end tonight - pray that the seller accepts our offer, or that our second choice doesn't sell in the interim!). We had a casual supper and put "Legend" in the DVD player.

I got a little cheated, this Father's Day. My Dad flew back to Utah (where my family is from) to spend a few days with his parents and my brother's family. So all 3 fathers in my immediate family were gone for Father's Day. I'm glad he went up to see them, though. It's been over a year since he's seen them, and they aren't in the best of health. :(

Hopefully we'll be able to do something cool this weekend. It'll probably consist of home-smoked ribs and some war movie. Fits my Dad perfectly.

Love you Dad. :)

My wife and kids made me breakfast in bed, I loafed all day long "watching" the U.S. Open while reading the newspaper, one and a half Raymond Chandler books, and starting a new fantasy book by Steve Brust. I swam in the pool, played with mey kids, had ice cream two or three times, and the only "work" I did was pick up some food for the dog. We went to my in-laws for dinner, had home-made Tiramisu for desert (better than any to be found in a restaurant), I played with my kids, watched the NBA finals (boring!) and read some more before bed. All in all, a great day. (And today, I will have nothing but coffee and a salad, to make up for it.)

I got to loaf most of the day. After sleeping in, I was awoken by kids screaming "Happy Father's Day" while jumping on me. Then we went out for lunch at an all-you-can-eat buffet followed by a short stop at the mall while my wife bought gifts for my father-in-law. After dropping me off to rest from the exertion, she took the kids to deliver the gifts.

I did a little yard work, watering and weeding, then my wife made dinner on the grill (and didn't even burn it this time ;) ). It was a pretty nice, quiet day.

We are currently saving/gathering money for a new DVD-set. And we made a ride in the park on my father's Dinkey-Toys Cabriolet (Scoot Mobile for handicapped people)

Other then that, I went to 2 friends which fathers were both burried last friday. Quite a special day for them, and I thought they might need some compassion. :sosad:

Just a coincidence, or something more ... the day after father's day, we start discussing Infidelity (http://www.sorcerers.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=20;t=000350) .

I think we need better dads, or more respect for the ones we have.

Ending rant ... too personal!

Nope. Coincidence. The connection never occured to me, actually.

Father's day? Damn, I knew I forgot something!

As for the gift, perhaps a comic by Maëster (soeur Marie-Thérèse des Batignolles) or Coyote (Litteul Kévin). Or both.

I am damned annoyed at the different dates for mothers and fathers day in the US and here! I always get frantic and think I have missed it when you guys start to talk about it! Then after calling my dad for a last minute congratulations I find out that here Father's day isnt until September or something!
